So...is it okay to download the new, NEW patch yet?

Post » Sat Nov 27, 2010 8:39 am

or is there still a chance it could screw my game up? i'm having no problems (knock on wood), so far (haven't updated in a few months). so is it worth downloading the newest patch or should i keep playing offline?

Well, considering the old new patch locked me completely out of my previous save files, and the new one let me back... um, I don't know. So far everything's playing fine. I'm in my original game, with a character I've spent 60 hours with and nothing unusual is happening. But I've only been playing for about ten minutes, so I'll let you know.

A small number of people are still having problems with freezing and loading, seems it still differs from system to system.

I'm not having a problem with freezing. But weirdly, sometimes when I'm walking around or turning around, the frame rate does occasionally drop ever so slightly, which never used to happen. It's almost like the Xbox is struggling with the game a bit more than it used to. Still, I can continue from where I left off, which is all that matters.

That may be what's linked to the freezing, my own game struggles heavily too when just wandering around or flicking through the pipboy.

All this is rather "funny" considering the fact that they clearly stated this patch should improve overall perfomance of the game.

Still not sure should i load this patch or not. I would start new game anyways but i just dont know now

Btw, does the arms still go over your head when aiming?

I've noticed that the arms over the head rarely happens now, and the movement glitch with some weapons have been completely fixed except for some minor ones with lucky

I'll be honest, I'm going to hold off from getting it for a while. Lets face facts, they have consistently messed this up even when patching their patches. So if you aren't having problems I personally wouldn't.

I haven't frozen once since the original 1.3 patch, so I'm all good :) and bugs are at a minimum for me

I have recently started a new game and the console downloaded the 1.2.0.310 patch (the 1.3 patch doesn't seem to be available in germany by now).
Before the patch I had many bugs (nothing overwhelming, though), very few crashes especially at crowded places like the Hover Damm, a loading issue where the loading time gets longer and longer with increased playing time (very annoying) and some stuttering.
But now I have a strange problem were the game loads a save just as normal, but when I want to load the second time the loading screen is in a continuous loop.
So, every time I make a second load I need to restart it.

Are you reloading a game while the game is loaded. I could do that on the PS3 with Fallout 3 and it would load fine, but if you do this with New Vegas on the Xbox you get the spinning wheel of death. You have to quit the game and then reload. It will be fine then.

well, i can answer my own question now it seems.

here's the answer: it is NOT okay to download the patch. i finally decided to get it last night, and low and behold i couldn't get past the loading screen when trying to load my save...so i went into the settings and deleted title update 4, and now things are back to normal.

so there you have it...if your game is running smoothly already, don't get the patch.

So, I have to quit the game (back to the main menu) and then reload. I'll try that.
Before the patch I hadn't this problem. Well, sometimes it happened, but very rare.

Edit: I think I know what triggers the problem: When I first load a save with the old char (before the patch) and then load a save with the new char the "spinning wheel of death" happens. When I only load "old" saves (or only "new" saves) everything is fine. I switched between the chars to compare the stats when making a new one.

The game worked fine until I downloaded the 4th patch today. Now, I get the spinning wheel of death when I try to load my saved games. I've deleted and reinstall the patch, but it hasn't helped; I'm still locked out of the game. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It's been working fine for me. I downloaded the patch yesterday and I haven't had a problem since.

I've had zero problems with the newer patch that fixed the new patch that fixed the new patch that fixed the new patch...oh you know what I mean :hubbahubba:

But in all seriousness, I was one of those people that had constant freezes and such with NV but all that seems to be gone now. :fallout:

I say yes, download the patch. I just headed over to Hoover Dam and New Vegas Strip and both loaded good without any lag. I used to get a lot of lag at Hoover Dam, but New Vegas I would get it for a bit then everything would sort out if I let it sit for a bit, like 30 seconds before walking around.

I made a new character and for some reason I got to the gunrunners and now I can't save anymore without it freezing. Any suggestions?

well i have had the latest patch for a couple of days and all was swell but today when i tried loading my game i ended up just getting the loading loop. Deleted the update and just playing the game offline and its working fine again so to be honest i wouldn't download it just yet.

I got the new patch today and started new game. This bug is definitely still there. Ive seen it a lot with varmint rifle so far + now few times even with 9mm pistol. I seem to recall this was usually affecting only two hands weapons before. How goddam difficult it possibly can be to get rid of this glitch??? Its been mentioned here over and over again and they just tweak weapons stats?!??

Also, as someone else has mentioned this allready. I just entered the bison steves at nighttime and there is now crickets chirping etc inside building aswell. So outside ambient noises follows you inside,

As a positive side. Game seems to run much smoother now.

(edit)

Ah well. Gotta admit im bit of ungratefull b*****d up there. Been playing now 10+ hours with my new game and just... wow! Visited hoover damn and strip allready and all that annoying lag and choppines is...totally gone. Game runs silky smooth in every part of strip aswell. Not a single freeze either. This is very pleasing to say the least :D Thanks guys! :celebration:
