Okay, Lydia is mental

Post » Thu Aug 08, 2013 4:32 am

So I recently started a whole new game, that's a big deal for me, since I've liked one character so much that I have just been restarting with her from early levels for close to a year (I've only made 2-3 other characters since I got the game), and especially since it's my first male character.

One thing I'm rediscovering? My God, Lydia is a nutcase. She has to have that chair--I mean, she wouldn't just take a kid's toy for her chair, or violently push a young child out of her chair if she found them defiling it, she'd straight up kill them. Then when people found out, she'd act shocked and outraged at how unfair they were being to her.

Right now, I've gotten addicted to totally [censored] with her head with Kharjo standing near the doorway, and moi taking her seat. I kid you not: she is practically standing on my character and saying all of her stupid, annoying lines every 4-5 seconds. She's crowding me so bad that it's causing this bizarre clipping from the door, her, and I think my armor or something (it's like torn up black paper floating around her).

Okay, now she's just standing directly in front of me, as close as humanly possible, and pacing like she's on cheap crystal meth or something. Turn away from me, turns toward me, turns to the side...all every 1.5-2 seconds, and each time she's facing me, she looks down with this psychotic, homicidal, dead-behind-the-eyes glare...

God i can't wait until Delphine wants some recruits (sure, I could kill her or frag her on a pre-planned tragedy, but what's the fun in that?).

Another reason Lydia is the worst, stupidest housecarl/follower in the game, compared to the others.

i did!!

it was for all the times she ran out in front of me when i was trying to do a stealth kill with my bow, what he could do if his character is a werewolf is he could have him or her transform then attack and kill lydia but then he would have one less pack mule.

Lydia is the McDonald's Big Mac compared to a 5 star dish as a housecarl/follower/spouse. 5 star dishes being all of the other many followers and female marriage candidates. I will never understand her popularity.

You just explained it perfectly! The Big Mac is the most popular dish on the planet if looking at sheer volume. No five star restaurant could ever compete with it. So that's why everyone loves Lydia. She's the Big Mac, baby! :D

just remember how many of us who had lydia as a companion who got pissed at her when she would do something totally stupid and got herself killed or when she would blow your stealth attacks by running out in front of you.

I signed her up for the Blades. It seems Esbern must've brainwashed her enough so she got over her addiction of chairs, 'cuz she literally doesn't sit on any of them in the temple anymore. That, or Delphine threw her one of her death glares when she tried to pick up on her addiction, and she doesn't dare to sit ever since. She only trains outside, unless she needs to sleep. That'd make Delphine awesome again in my book, actually ...

I don't play an out and out stealther but I like to dabble occasionally (and when those stealth marksman kill cut scenes are so epic, it's hard not to resist). If I know I'm going to do some sneaking, I'll usually tell Lydia to wait at the dungeon entrance and then go back and get her when I'm done with the stealth shots. Annoying I know, but better than going through the trouble of lining up a shot and then having the poorly trained housecarl go blundering into the fray.

We should all share our funniest Lydia moments hehehe

I started playing like a week ago but it was on one of the easy difficulties. I started a new toon yesterday that was going to be a non magic assassin/rogue type character and i cranked up the difficulty just a bit. I had Lydia equipped in steel armor and a 2H. I had the bounty mission to kill the bandit leader in that cave near Whiterun, the one with the mammoth inside. As i was sneaking into the room with the mammoth i put two arrows into the caster, then i killed the other guy next to her. But then here comes the bandit leader, and its an orc with a 2H mace. He eventually scored a hit on me that took away a good chunk of my health. So i went down into the room drank some health pots and used all my majicka to heal myself...all while running around the mammoth. I'm looking but i dont see Lydia chasing after him. Instead she was up on the upper level shooting arrows at him.

The only thing missing was the Benny Hill theme music. Or maybe if Lydia had been saying "pew pew" as she was shooting her bow.

My Dark Elf married her, after they assassinated the Emperor together. Their relationship is going to probably end though.

Shouting "Skyrim is for the Nords" isn't a good idea when you're out adventuring with your Dark Elf husband, who also happens to be a bit of a stone cold killer that has helped daedra out on numerous occasions.

I respect Lydia; a true Nord.

I think it's funny when a dragon appears and she hops around like a kid in a candy store and attempts to slay it.

I recall Lydia used to try to sit on the chair in my bedroom.

But that was in 2012.

These days, PC users have the USKP...

Which fixes a lot of things (including Lydia).
