Okay walmart has officially confused me x.x

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:55 am

Okay so I live in Yulee and we have a walmart super center and the town over (literally a 7 minute drive) has just a regular one. Well I called both and both are telling me different stories about pre ordering Brink. First off the on here says they haven't even heard of the date being moved forward (wtf you think that woulda been like public knowledge) and says for me to pre order I HAVE to do it online. Yet the one in Fernandina (town over) says you can do it either online or come to the store and pre order it there, plus they say they know about the date being moved up. I am honestly confused, can I? Cant I? Is walmart like hating on Brink or something? >> (seriously lots of things I have seen lately abotu walmart and Brink). Will I even be able to get my game?! D; Just needing a wee bit of help on this -.-

I say pre-order online, unless you have no credit card/paypal, then go to the one in Fernandina because they have in store preorder. give business to the one that knows about it I say...

And assume that Walmart hates your local Walmart, and not Brink. Hating Brink is improbable, hating a store in your own franchise is much more believable.

Yeah I just called, figures out the one in Fernandina lied BUT the guy there actually is a follower of Brink, told me I can just stock up a giftcard since I only have cash, an pre order it with a giftcard. He even [censored]ed about walmart never even knowing what to do with games because they dont take selling them seriously (there not even trained on how tot handle pre order bonuses and date pushing)

Just because Wal-Mart as a coporate entity knows about the date being moved forward doesn't mean their staff is aware... Keep in mind this isn't Gamespot Gamestop or any other video games retailer, we're talking Wal-Mart (there's a reason many french speakers here in Quebec call it Wal-"Marde", litteraly Wal-Sh*t...) here so the staff is not necessarily all that dedicated about their job.

You also have to keep in mind that Brink still is a pretty low-profile release and has built very little hype, all things considered (compared to, say, L.A.Noire, which was most likely seen as the May 17th release - and possibly largely responsible for the Brink release being moved forward!). Hell, the whole Amazon.ca team is unaware that Amazon is supposed to offer a preorder bonus, I can't expect every single Wal-Mart employee to know Brink even exists ;)

As for their preorder policies, I have no idea (since I never deal with Wal-Mart in any way; you can think my convictions stupid if you want, I won't mind ;) ), but my first instinct would be to go in store. If the rep says no, ask to talk to a manager, and mention that the sales rep refused your purchase and you'll have to go to another store to make your pre-order. I'm pretty sure they'll change their mind ;)

+ Edit : Oups, typo...

Step 1. Go to Walmart.com.
Step 2. Pre-order Brink and select 'site-to-store' as the destination.
Step 3. Wait until Brink's release date, then go to Walmart.
Step 4. ????
Step 5. Profit!
