I can't even get through the door in the Temple. Every time I try to open it, it says "This door is locked". I've went through the rest of the place and found no control switch or anything.
Anyone know?

Is there some certain special way to use it or is it just a random roll?

Well, your success at picking locks is dependent on how high your Lockpick skill is. Equipping Lockpick sets increases your skill.

Open up the skill list (there's a button for it down at lower right-hand corner) and if you click on the lockpick skill, it'll change the color of the mouse reticule to let you know it's been selected. Click that on the door and you'll attempt a lockpick. (Alternately, I think the number 2 is the hotkey for that skill.) F1 brings up the help menu that gives you a list of all the hotkeys in the game.

Later on in the game you'll get access to lockpicks and other items you can use on things - if you hold down the mouse button, it'll open up a context-sensitive menu for the item you're clicking on, and you can select the backpack icon to open up your inventory and decide what you want to use on the object. Alternatively, you can equip the lockpicks (or whatever) and then click on the icon of it in the menu bar, then click on the object you want to use it on.

Hope that helps a bit. It can take a little bit to get used to how the game plays, but I feel it's certainly worth it once you get into it.

Thats hilarious.

This is exactly the same spot on Fallout 2 that I got stuck and gave up on it for years.

Read the manual. Thats what I did when I got back to it. There is a skillset, where you chose what skill to apply to a certain situation. The skill you are looking for here is lockpick.

There is an online manual to be found in my signature if you have any more problems.

Once again, I repeat, if people are unfamiliar with Fallout 1-2, then READ THE MANUAL.

Hm. Can't remember that particular door... And I've been in that temple like what, 5-7 days ago?!
There is another unlockable and, unpickable, door though that comes to mind. Hint: Use dynamite ;)

Uhh, yeah? I was thanking you for the help. The first post you put in this topic was AFTER the OP, meaning I was not aware that you had a manual in your sig when I made the topic. I wasn't responding to your message with the "TFM" thing, if that's what you were thinking.
