An Old Elf -RP Thread

"These fetch a good price in riverwood" said the redguard. Looking at her in curiosity, Elderin rose from the rock he sat on. Putting his sword back into's sheath, in order to show he meant no harm, he walked over to the redguard. He looked over her, smiling warmly, despite the tense situation. "Sorry to startle you and the others like that. My old nerves get startled easily." he said. "And as for the saber cat tooth, you can have it. As long as you skin me the pelt. I'll need something to keep me warm tonight. With how late it is getting, I should rest for my jounery tomorrow." Looking out to the others, he beckonded to them in a warm voice. "I presume at least one of you will be staying? I have some salt and salmon, and I could cook us all up a nice meal of Salmon steak. Only problem being, there's only one bed, built for one. I'm fine with sleeping outside, but I hope one of your brought yourself a bedroll." Putting out a hand for Sakii to shake, Elderin tried to seem like a proper host. "I am Elderin. And you are?"

Taking Sakii's hand, Elderin shook slowly. The redguard looked at him strangely. After shaking her hand, Elderin saw that she went back to sawing the tooth of the saber cat. Trying to avoid from staring, he saw the blade she was using. Looks much better than steel.. he thought to himself. This was a typical blade, nothing special about. No enchantments looked to be on it, nor was it dull. Then Elderin noticed that it was a elven blade. Likely forged out of refinded moonstone and quicksliver, it was a good example of that even elves could forge a sword just as strong, if not stronger than a Nord. But the distinct look of of the sword brought back meomries of a certain individual.

The image the sword brought back to Elderin was that of a young atlmer. Clad in a robe used almost exclusively used by Thalmor mages, his skin is fair, almost able to pass off for a Breton. His ears are covered by the hood, but his eyes give away his mer descent. Yellow with orange pupils. His hair is blonde and long, extending outward from the hood. The nose is small, eyebrows are lifted upwards, as if in humor. The mage looks forwards, and starts chuckling to himself. He covers his mouth with his hand, as if to quiet the laugh, but it echo's further and further outward.

Elderin's vision broke. His view focused back to the landscape of Skyrim, and he saw Hyaril, Taela, and Sakii all looking at him. His is tone hurried and frantic.
"Ah! Sorry, my mind wandered there for a bit! Anyways, where was I again? Oh yes, that's right! You all need a place to stay for the night, right?"
Slowing down his speech, the old elf continued. "Why not stay here? I have enough food for all of us."
As he spoke, a voice rung in Elderin's head.
You remember the 30th of Frostfall, don't you?

Hyaril touched his knee and winced, "Aye, it's mighty sore, another one of my clumsy endeavours." he smiled to the Khajiit, "It should be fine until we reach the next town but if any of you know how to keep it from not getting infected, that'd be really appreciated." He stood up from the fire and walked towards the others. He wondered how to introduce himself, whether he should say where he's truly from and where he's truly going but decided to keep things simple. "I'd like to take you up on that offer Elderin, I'm a bard so I can keep us up all night with songs if you're up for it." Hyarils face lit up at the idea of playing for someone else, although he would've really prefered to have finished his blackrose song, there were many stories and songs which he knew quite well.

"My name is Hyaril and it's a pleasure to meet you all." He held his hand out for all three of them to take, hoping he wouldn't be stood waiting for someone recieve his hand.

Taela shook the bosmer's hand and sat him down. "Taela will have that knee healed in no time." She laid a hand on Hyaril's knee and mended it. As she was healing his knee, Taela began thinking of Elderin's offer. "It is a long way to Hammerfell. Perhaps this one could stay for awhile. No hurries." she said brightly. Taela then helped Hyaril up and brushed the dead leaves off of him.

Even though the Redguard posed the question as if asking for permission, she still went to her knees and began to work on the tooth. Technically, it was the Altmer's kill, so it did belong to him, but she didn't see him using its teeth for anything practical or sanitary. She saw the elf rise in her peripheral as she began slowly but surely sawing through the ivory. "Sorry to startle you and the others like that. My old nerves get startled easily." he said, strolling over to her.

"And as for the saber cat tooth, you can have it. As long as you skin me the pelt."

Sakii rolled her eyes ever so slightly. She didn't feeling skinning the whole thing. That wold also mean she'd have to move it out the way. She didn't particularly care for the strangers around her, but her decent manners and respectful upbringing would stop her from skinning it in front of them, and in plain view of the shack. Plus, her huntress' wit told her the easiest way to attract more, bigger beasts was to give it easy bait . . .

". . .and I could cook us all up a nice meal of Salmon steak."

Oh, he's still talking. Must be trying to invite us over, she mused, ripping apart the remainder of the tooth with her hand before repositioning and starting on the other one.

"I'm fine with sleeping outside," the elf still continued. "But I hope one of your brought yourself a bedroll." He reached out a hand to her now, and although she didn't really want to, she shook it firmly. "I am Elderin," He said, "And you are?"

"Sakii," She responded, glancing at him and briefly making eye contact before returning to her work. She wasn't really looking forward to a night with this particular group of people, but at the same time she was in no rush to walk all the way back, and the promise of salmon steak surely was alluring . . .

The Bosmer spoke up now, responding to an inquiry the elf made earlier "Aye, it's mighty sore, another one of my clumsy endeavours. It should be fine until we reach the next town but if any of you know how to keep it from not getting infected, that'd be really appreciated."

Oh, that's easy, just get some taproot paste and ground blisterwort . . . she thought to herself, while still cutting. Her time in the wilds taught her plenty of homemade remedies for cuts, sores, infections, and etc. She didn't really know this fellow though, and didn't much care for him or his leg. She wasn't out here to make acquaintances. She was just finishing up the second tooth when he then stood up, albeit gingerly, and introduced himself.

I'd like to take you up on that offer Elderin, I'm a bard so I can keep us up all night with songs if you're up for it. My name is Hyaril and it's a pleasure to meet you all."

Now it was his turn to hold out his hand for them to shake, but Sakii was in no rush. She still had work to do. She stood for a while, hands on her hips while the Khajiit came up and shook Hyaril's hand, sitting him back down before using a healing spell to mend his leg.

Or you could just do that, she thought, watching in minor fascination at the essence that the cat had procured from her hand that was now coursing slowly and gracefully into the elf. Magic was always nice to look at, especially the healing spells. But then again it depends on the injury of the victim, because sometimes even the healing isn't pretty.

She turned back to Elderin, hands still on her hips and not really wanting to haul the beast off to bloody Hammerfell just to skin it.

"If you want me to skin this thing, you're going to have to help me move it. We can't do it here, it'll be easy bait. And also, I skinned a fox behind this shack, so you should set that adrift."

She paused for a moment, quickly pondering Elderin's other offer. The Bosmer elf said he was a bard, and she could use some entertainment, plus he wasn't bad to look at, just goofy. The cat said she'd stay, and she talked of coming from Hammerfell, where Sakii came from. She could always chat her up about where in Hammerfell she resided, as Khajiit's in Hammerfell weren't too popular in Sakii's native area. And then, there was Elderin's promise of salmon steak, and she could really use some salmon steak.

"You said you making salmon steak right? As long as its on the house I can stay for a few hours."

After shaking everyone's hands, which was slighty painful with the Khajiit due to her claws, Elderin sat and watched as Taela healed Hyaril's knee. He always was interested in the school of restoration, but was always better with destruction and Conjuration. Naturally, this made him even less popular in the cold land of Skyrim. Most of the time, the only use of magic that is respected is the restoration, due to it's use by healers. Seeing the calm yellow light relaxed Elderin. Watching the wound mend, he looked over to Sakii. The redguard said something about moving the corpse of the saber cat, saying that it was easy bait. Nodding, Elderin grabbed the back leg's of the cat, while Sakii grabbed the front. While suprised she didn't question the why a old man could lift a saber cat, Elderin didn't mention anything about it. He still needed to keep the guise of some old man, not a 230 year old spellsword. Granted, yelling out "Feel the Wrath of a seasoned Spellsword!" wasn't likely to help with keeping the disguise. None the less, he helped drag the corpse behind the shack. Sakii got to skinning. Elderin picked up the fox, and threw it adrift. As he did, he whispered "You are free now". Though it is unlikely that Sakii soul trapped the fox, saying that just made Elderin feel better about throwing a skinless fox into the water.

Walking back to Sakii, Elderin watched her skin the Saber Cat. It became apparent to the Atlmer that she was a huntress. He tried to not to stare as she worked, but it was just to interesting. The elf hoped that it wouldn't seem as if he was eyeing her out of lust. Elderin knew that he couldn't find another to be with. He would outlive most races, and even if he found a atlmer woman, he would stay younger than she, and even she would die before Elderin. He never was to type to stay in one place anyways. Still, he respected anyone who was able to survive on their own. Hearing something about his offer of a meal and a place to stay, Elderin cleared his head. "Ah yes. How could I charge you anything? I would be happy to make you and the others some food". Elderin walked back to Hyaril and Taela, and the campfire. Moving inside the shack, he took the cooking pot, and placed it by the fire. He also took his pack.

Removing the steak from his pack, he saw that the salt he used to preserved it was still on it. Putting a spiddle through the steak, then putting the spiddle back above the fire, he started to spin the stick. After some spinning of the stick, Elderin sat and watched the campfire. It burned slowly, but it brought back another memory to Elderin.

This one still had the same Thalmor mage as before, but flames were all around him. In his hands, covered by Thalmor issue gloves, electricity was emitting outward. The mage shot the lighting into the air, and laughed. The image shifted again, a village still burning, the mage still there. He stood before two men, likely brothers. They both cowered before him. The young mage flicked his fingers, and red aura began circling around them. Doing the same with his other hand, he spoke. The voice was sweet and friendly, and had a unmistakable aura of glee to it.
"Now," the Thalmor mage said, "Fight."
He launched the rage spells out at the brothers, and they started to brawl. Fist hitting chest, teeth biting neck. They fought and fought, until they both killed each other by grabbing each other's throats. The mage only laughed.

The young mage in Elderin's head still laughed. That insufferable laugh ringed through the old atlmer's ears. Just the sight of the Thalmor robes made Elderin furious. If he could see what he was doing, he would have noticed the purple glow in his hands. Elderin grit his teeth, the rage in him building up to that of a Orc berserker. The only thing that broke Elderin's vision and rage was a otherwordly yell.
Elderin had just conjured a Dremora.

"Taela has been to many places Hyaril. Seen many things. But she has yet to return home as the Thalmor have a heavy presence in Elsweyr. Not to mention this one's own litter mates are too blind and easily mislead by elvish lies of ancient magics. This one can not stand those overzealous durzogs." Taela was keeping Hyaril company by the fire. The air was getting cooler and a small wind had picking up. Taela's pack then fell and her scrolls rolled onto the floor. The khajiit quickly noticed and raced to put them in her bag.

"I smell weakness!" yelled the Dremora. It was clad in daedric armor, it's face black with large amounts of red near the eyes. It's hair was long and smooth, black as night, with two horns poking out of . It drew it's sword, a claymore of astounding quality, and walked slowly towards Sakii, behind the shack. A twisted smile went through it's face. However, it looked behind, and saw Hyarl speaking with Taela. It smiled even more. "Blood for my Lord...." it said silently. Elderin thought what the Dremora might do to the others. If focus is not put into the spell, disastrous results could be brought forth due to lack of control. Accidental summons tend to not end better off than any other spell without focus.

Elderin still was thinking frantically as the Dremora walked towards Hyaril and Taela. They didn't seem to notice it yet. It's grin grew was it walked towards them. Elderin, attempting to tackle the Dremora, only stumbled it, while knocking himself to the ground.
"No! You were not meant to be conjured! You shall stay, you shall wait! No combat, no fighting for now!" Elderin yelled at the oblivion walker. It let out a laugh, as if it forgot it was Elderin binding it to this plane. It smiled at Elderin, but it saw the elf was staring down. His one good eye showing anger, the other showing nothing. The daeda crossed it's arms, as It recieved a thought from the atlmer.
Obey.
Nodding, the Daedra stood watch over the elf, as if told to guard.
Everyone heard the ruckus, and all looked confused. Elderin was embarrassed, and tried to ligten the mood with an joke.
"See? I knew I could summon a Dremora."

"Taela see's you are an expert." She was still unaware of the conflict a chuckling Elderin had just experienced moments before. Taela looked at the bound gauntlets scroll in her sack and drew up the courage to ask the high elf for assistance. "Would you be willing to teach her how to summon these gauntlets?" She pulled the scroll out of her bag and presented them to Elderin.

OOC: mind if I join in?

Vulstag’s eyes scanned the surrounding environment, searching for threats. All around him, the crisp landscape of Eastmarch stood in stoic perfection, disturbed only by the armored man striding through it. To the Nord’s left flowed the Darkwater River, its rushing waters carving a path through the icy loam and jagged rocks of Skyrim, eventually dumping into the River Yorgrim. That river was his target.

The Nord mercenary had been tracking a group of deadly outlaws for the past month, and had just recently discovered they had set up shop on the banks of the Yorgrim. Vulstag lusted for blood, and no one, not even the gods would stop him from wetting his blade. He loved to kill. It was why he was a mercenary and a bounty hunter- he could kill all he wanted and get paid for it. Sell Swords were in high demand now a days, and Vulstag found purchase with several clients willing to fulfill his appetite of death.

A noise caught the Nord’s attention through the confines of his horned iron helmet. Voices. Activity. The smell of cooking salmon. Vulstag veered from his trek through the marshes, and headed over to the bank of the river. He stood on a large rise overlooking a small riverside shack. A pretty Redguard woman was skinning a Saber Cat for its pelt, just below him, and a robed Khajit woman was talking to an Altmer man standing by the river.

“Hello there!” bellowed Vulstag, his voice filling the small trench that the Darkwater River occupied. “Be ye friend or foe?!” he asked, hoping they would choose foe. All of these people were foreigners in his land, but he knew from experience that such xenophobia only lend to unrest and self-harm. And that redguard woman was rather fetching…

Taela jerked her head towards the imposing Nord and took quick look at his hand firmly placed on the hilt of his sword. A foreboding sense of danger eminated from this man. She quickly put the scrolls away and the two turned around. " Ah, a Nord has come seeking either alliance or quarry. This one suggests you remove your hand from your sword, lest things become...difficult."

ooc: Sorry for the late reply, work.

ic:

Hyaril was excited that the Khajiit would want to sit next to him, as a hopeless romantic, he typically fell for anyone and everyone that looked at him. That was until she opened her mouth. If there was one thing that bored Hyaril, it was places he'd never go to and Thalmor. He'd never go to Elswyr because he didn't like unbearable heat and he didn't like Thalmor because, well - No one likes Thalmor very much. He was curious however as to what a Durzog was and what it referred to. He was about to ask when she clumsily dropped several scrolls onto the floor.

You don't have to be a mage to figure out how much that bag is worth. He thought, eyeing her as she quickly thrust them back where they had come from. Suddenly, his suspicions about those he sat with became aroused, especially when Elderin came in with an out of control Dremora at his heels. The whole thing was entirely crazy which is why Hyaril smiled and laughed. He'd always dreamt of Dremora, nightmares or heroic sagas were usually the norm for all teenagers and small children. But to see them up close was always something special, "Elderin, you uhh, wouldn't mind getting rid of him?" He asked politely, before making eye contact with the monster, "Sorry."

Just then, quite unexpectedly, a voice rang out. Later, Hyaril would ponder why he jumped, what with a dremora casually standing guard, a khajiit with a scroll fetish and a redguard who happened to be haplessly decapitating a sabre cat. However, jump he did. "What the-?!" he cursed, a fireball spell instantly coming to mind.

"Be ye friend or foe?!"

Be ye? Hyaril wondered, forgetting his earlier fright as he watched a tall powerful looking nord step through the clearing, his eyes obviously attached to the redguard. "Hyaril's always a friend, unless you're a fellow bard, inwhich case you can jog on."

Elderin was going to explain to the khajit how to bound the gauntlets, but Hyaril spoke before the old elf could. He said something about removing the Dremora. The bosmer made the mistake of making eye contact with it, and it's face turned into a scowl. Elderin glared at the Dremora.
"Vazzat. Stay." the atlmer said. Moving his focus to Hyaril, he said "I'm sorry. It can be rather angry when it doesn't have anyone to fight.
Vazzat clenched it's fists. Calling the dremora it wasn't truly correct, he was male after all. At least, when he wanted to be. Few dremora took the forms of females. His demonic voice bellowed.
"I am not an it, you churl! I am proud warrior of my lord, Mehrunes Dagon!"
As the Dremora spoke, a nordic voice exploded through the area, almost asking for a fight. The Nord walked towards Taela, his hand on his sword. The cat issued a demand to the warrior, telling him to remove his hand from his sword.
Vazzat looked towards Elderin. The atlmer nodded his head. Vazzat's twisted smile returned Laughing to himself, he spoke to the nord.
'You sound llike you want a fight. Let my Dremora here accommodate you."
"Vazzat?" said Elderin
"Yes, Elf?" the dremora said with excitement.
"Attack." Elderin said as the Familar he summoned earlier put it's head on his lap.
"Your still here? I'm suprised I have the Magic and focus to keep you a Vazzat bound here until I choose to dispel you both."
Looking towards the warrior, Elderin yelled to him.
"I'll call him off when your done! Or rather, when he's had his fill..."
Vazzat drew his claymore, and rushed the nord.

OOCL Well Elderin did say he will call off the Dremora
.....at some point.

IC: Vazzat ran towards Vulstag with blade drawn. He would wait for the mortal to attack first. It would be dishonorable to attack first, without even giving the flesh sack a chance to attack. he did want to install some fear into this nord before attacking.
"A challenger approaches!" he said as he ran ahead.

Also, if it helps, you can send me what you had if you stil have it and we can work out what you have and what Kalamari has now, since its merely a paragraph.
