OLD GUNS MINUTEMAN RADIO CASTLE game breaking glitch.

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 3:40 am

During a quest for the minutemen you're told to supply power to the radio Tower in the castle, after successfully doing this and the radio having power it seems there is a glitch that makes the minuteman who's assigned to the radio leave his seat and stand up.

From here onwards he won't be able to get back into the seat and as such freedom radio doesn't work. The npc keeps saying "put the power on so I can get back to broadcasting" even though the power is definitely on. I've seen multiple people with this bug spread across forums.

Only found resolution is to reload save and try not to disturb the minuteman with any combat, power reconnections

This glitch makes the artillery quest incompleteable

Unfortunately I have 15+ hours of gameplay after this point so I can't go back.

I have the bug as well, same situation - too far in to go back now. I just moved everything from the castle and am pretending it doesn't even exist. It would have made a nice home base but with the tower glitched, there's no point.

I've seen a lot of random posts but no one from Bethesda picking them up and acknowledging the bug. This may turn out like that Skyrim Ps4 bug that never got addressed.

Actually, I just looked at the PC bugs thread and they have it listed in a couple different forms, but I expect it's the same root cause that's the source of our ailments. So it's in their to-look-at list.

I'm having the same issue.

The radio tower has ample power, but says that it is unassigned when viewing it in workshop mode. The Minuteman that is supposed to operate it has left his seat and will not resume his duties.

I believe this happened early on during a raid on The Castle which caused him to stand up.

Extremely frustrating and game breaking bug as now I am unable to progress through the story.

I had to go back in my save around 10 hours to fix this and complete the quest. Immediately after you take the castle and power the radio you need to talk to Ronnie Shaw as soon as possible i think. Something causes the radio minuteman to glitch out and decouple from the radio. Obviously you cant command him to man the radio so i dont know of a way to fix the problem after that. I've heard that things like moving people to the castle will cause this because it causes the radio guy to stand up and start complaining about power and stuff even tho the radio is fine. If you can get resources set up before other settlers show up or talk to Ronnie Shaw quickly you can avoid this like i did, but if you cant go back, you might be in trouble. Anyway, this is very seriously game breaking and should be a priority fix for Bethesda in future patches. Just so people know, my mirelurk queen fight was a mess and people died, but i was still able to get the radio guy to work. if you have a save where the radio shows a blue human figure and you have power i would run with that. Sorry to not have a fix for you guys :( :( Also, I should mention that some people were saying all you have to do is store and reset the generators, rebuild them, move them, reconnect them, just use 1 generator or overshoot the power, use pylons to connect. None of these things worked for me unfortunately. It seems to be a problem with the NPC. What would 100% fix this is just letting the radio man be a standard commandable NPC.
