Old HUD vs New (Current)

Post » Thu Dec 30, 2010 11:41 pm

Which Crysis 2 HUD do you prefer, the one we have currently, or the alpha one with circular radar, etc?

Or do you think the original Crysis 1 HUD looks better?

I prefer the alpha health/ammo part; reminds me of Half-Life 2.
The release radar is better than alpha though.

I prefer the current with the exception of health not being displayed as a numerical value. I would have liked a health bar below the energy bar.

I like the one we have. :)
I have another question for you guys which I didn't see on the forums so far but don't wanna make a useless thread about it:

Do you like the current Ltag or the one we were shown months ago (with the remote detonated sticky nades)?

As for me I liked the earlier verison better.

I prefer Crysis 1 hud - i was more informative (health for example - have u seen health hud in C2? Oh yeah, they think we can measure health by level of CallofBlur in eyes) and it have not such and ugly and uncomfortable angle, also it was not so huge and was not covering half of screen like consolish hud of Crysis 2 do((

Yep, I also pick C2 any time. More info, more clear. Though the C2 one isn't bad at all. :)

Crysis 1. Smarter layout, more informative, less bulky.

I think the earlier L-Tag would be easier to use, the current one's a bit tricky

Crysis 2 release HuD is the best IMO.

Numerical Health would be very nice. Shame that we don't get that in this.

battlefield 3 also have similar hud system to the alpha version as far as ive seen on the screenshot, so having the current version is better, doesnt make people saying that this game copy the other.

Yeah I think as well + there was a video from E3 where they showed that you can sticky it to a car, kick the car (in case of the vid off a bridge) and blow them both up which seemed a lot of fun to do. :)

As far as the HUD concerned I wanna add that I think the map should be a bit more zoomed out but that's just my personel opinion. :)

I think doesn't showing the health appears to be more "realistic"

In a Nanosuit you will only see a Energy bar of the suit, not your Health bar, 'cause you are a dead man walking. lol

Crysis 2.
It just looks like what a HUD should be like. Plus it bobs, and it makes me feel like I'm in the suit :)

Now we discover Crytek's reasoning behind not having a health bar...

Although, they could have just as easily put in a 'death' bar. Instead of starting at 100, it starts at 0. When you reach 100% death you are then truly dead. I like it.

I prefer N1 HUD for information, but like N2 hud for it's looks.

Crysis 1's ALPHA hud is the best, tbh.

Out of the Crysis 2 huds, the alpha one is better as well, as it has a health meter of some sorts.

Why the F is there even a MAP on the HuD in Crysis 2? As if, at any point in this game, anyone has ever needed to consult the MAP. It's a goddamned HALLWAY SHOOTER. There is not one freakin' level in which the player is given an alternate route to get to his/her destination. I can see having the map in MP, but why not at least give us the option to disable it during the Campaign? Or toggle it up like in Crysis? I know, it points out objectives, but again, like those are at all difficult to find in such a linear game.

Though I don't agree with many of the haters on these forums (I actually really like C2), I have to admit, I love the original game's HUD.
