You know what I loved the most about old school games were some of the music in them!

I never did like the sampler of the SNES as much as the FM synth of the Genesis.

I know this probably has nothing to do with anything but I was reading up on Vectorman and the main bad guy in that game is named WarHead hahaha...
Its been so long since I've played vectorman I didn't even realize this until now...

"Raster, a high-level orbot who watches Earth through a planetwide computer network, is accidentally attached to a working nuclear missile by a lesser orbot and goes insane, becoming an evil dictator named Warhead. He declares himself ruler of Earth, and begins preparing to execute any humans who dare return to their planet."

Muahahahah evil dictator ruler of earth! I like the sound of that...

I was a zx spectrum girl. My favourites were http://www.ysrnry.co.uk/articles/wheretimestoodstill.htm (the birth of my rpg obsession!), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dizzy_%28series%29, http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0004549 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTFITF0ofF0. Oh my god, the hours my brother and I spent playing Chaos. My aim every time was to use Gooey Blob to cover the entire screen.

Mmmm, River City Ransom. Me and my best friend played the hell out of that game, all throughout childhood and even into our Senior year, probably beyond. It's one of the games of mine that went missing though, no idea what happened to it :-(. Such an awesome game, so much fun. Oooh Ooh, I remember two others that are great as well! Double Dragon 1, 2, 3, and Faxanadu.

I like your sig. :)

Streets of Rage, Super Mario Bros, Bomberman, and that Home Alone game on the Megadrive are the first few older games that spring to mind. The first console I owned was a PSX, so my experience with the pre-32 bit era is limited.

By he way, I wonder if anyon can help me recall a game on the NES (it may have been the SNES). You played a wizard in a pointy hat, and it had an isometric viewpoint. You navigated through a series of rooms, most of which contained a challenge of some sort (puzzles, traps, etc.) In one room, you had to get some boots to progress. That's all I remember. I'd love to find that game again.

I started on a Commodore 64...didn't move up to DOS until the late '80s. :)

I managed to avoid DOS until the 1990s; and I was honour-bound to ignore the Commode 64 because my cousins had them and would sneer at my albeit crappy alternative as being "Mickey Mouse" in comparison.

Er, what were we on about again...?

And lion king has to be one of the best movie games EVER created. Seriously, swinging off hippos tails then sliding down giraffs and landing on ostriches then magically growing up is a recipe for win. then dont forget that amazing combat that disney implemented where you would knock out enemies.

Yeah that game was awesome.

Aladdin on DOS too. There were several points where I would always die, and have to start all over again. It was incredibly satisfying when I finally managed to beat it.

Old school games though.. hands down, Super Mario Bros 2. each character having diffeent jump and speed abilities.. the star minigames.. The characters that differed from the rest of the series' characters. One emeory in particular was listeing to ZZ Top's Cheap Sunglasses while playing the game and remarking how whe "woooo: sound effect int he middle of the song closely resembled the sound of birdo firing an egg out of the mouth.

I ened to get an emulator for that or something.

Fail. I remember playing the exact game that you mentioned a few months back. Cannot seem to find the game. I am almost positive it is a 16-bit. So you can probably narrow your search down to genesis or snes.

Super Mario 3 is by far my favorite mario game. Best mario game ever. They all started going downhill until super mario 64 came out, but that game still didn't measure up to Super Mario 3. I wish I could still play that game. I never got to beat it and my super nintendo doesn't work anymore... at least the controllers. don't. anyone know where I can get some controllers for it?
