Old Skool Fallout Armour in FO NV

Post » Wed Oct 27, 2010 10:50 am

I have to be honest despite it possibly leading to me being :flamed: , That armor just looks silly to me. I preferred the fallout 3 enclave armor because in the case of non tesla armor it was not completely over the top. The over-sized and rounded appearance just looks cartoony. I know this game is not a serious simulation of anything, but It is not a cartoon. Although the added rust and weather stains counters it some.

The fact that most of the forum goers promote this look of armor and then go ranting and raving how things aren't hardcoe enough just baffles me to no end.

We like our original fallouts and when we see a look from one we love it same reason I liked the Regulators armor in FO3 it looks like the NCR rangers armor in FO 2

My sig is a piece of graffiti one of the gaming journos saw on a wall in their demo. So yeah, pretty much confirmed in game.

It's called taste, or opinion if you prefer. Personally I don't see how the Fallout 2 Enclave armor looks any more silly or over the top than their Fallout 3 power armor; in Fallout 3 they had horns on their helmets for god sakes.

Is it just me, or does it look like they need to scale up the torso of the suit to match the head and arms? That would take care of the clipping on the tubes and with the arms. The proportions are just off. Still, looks absolutely amazing!
I agree (it looks amazing).

I would think that scaling up the torso might cause more problems than its worth though.

Who's the burned man?
I think it's a hint towards http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Joshua_Graham

In Van Buren it is "The Hanged Man", but based on the graffiti in New Vegas, I can only assume they changed Joshua's nickname to "The Burned Man".

It's uglier than a t-51b assisted armor but I hope its got some good stats.

Really like the look of the armour, and if you ask me whether the Enclave in fallout new vegas consist of a couple former members or a full fledged military base I know for certain that obsidian will handle it exquisitely

Or possibly an locked tight abandoned base.

With regards to the Burning Man comments, it could also be a nod to that fire obsessed npc party member from Planescape.

Bad choice in my opinion.
Hanged Man sounds way better than Burned Man.

I wouldn't disagree. Still, I'm mainly just concerned with whether or not his character from Van Buren remains relatively unchanged (since it was already the pinnacle of badassery).

If the Bethstaff guy hadn't come in here, I woulda assumed this was a really good community mod. The background looks EXACTLY the same as Fallout 3.

I hope he's the same.
Can imagine walking into a previously friendly town and to suddenly stand at gunpoint thanks to him. :P

I thought the same to be honest, Until I looked at more detail at the picture the sky is more blue, the ground looks more vibrant and full of life, looks a lot more like New Vegas from what I've seen to be honest. :tops:

EDIT: Colors just all around look more vibrant instead of drab and depressing like FO3.

yeah yeah burned man.... hanged man.... same thing in my books, it wasn't his name that defined him but how terribly evil and awesome he was.... oh and how he was burnt. If he is in FO NV, maybe you don't find him hanging like in Van Buren so instead hes the burned man.

Why would it not have an Enclave emblem? Wasn't it the Enclave that built the Advanced Power Armors?

You have a point. I did not see it on their PA in Fallout 2 and it was not called "Enclave Power Armour." I don't want the logo on it mostly because I don't want the Enclave to be in New Vegas. If they are people that used to be in the Enclave they should have marked out the logo.

If the Enclave is back then why did the Enclave use that crap PA in FO3?

But that's what made him so awesome.
They burned him... He didn't die.
They threw him into the Grand Canyon... He didn't die.
They hanged him... He didn't die.
And you, the PC, have the option to release this evil twisted man upon the wasteland.

If we're going to find him just chilling out in bar I'm gonna be pissed off.

I'm really happy that we finally get our Advanced Power Armor the way it's supposed to look, but hopefully they'll do a retexture and get rid of that ugly logo. Also, I get that it might be somewhat blemished after all these years, but I really wish that the yellow eyes weren't covered with smudges/scratches, it just doesn't look right.

Yeah, when I first saw it today on NMA I thought it was a mod too. It wasn't in a separate article but just in the corner of the website as a Pic of the Day :)

If he does happen to be in the game I highly doubt that you'll just find him 'chillin' in the bar, maybe you find him in a shallow grave a la the courier or even better crucified!! at an abandoned legion camp somewhere. And the fact that he was hanged didnt define him if anything it was the burns and bandages, his pure evil and extreme hate for the legion. Being burned then being thrown into the grand canyon and surviving(and were still dont know where the courier would find him) is only slightly less badass than being burned thrown in the grand canyon, hanged then surviving but it still doesnt change who he is or what hes done. Regardless i'm sure the brilliant minds at Obsidian will handle Joshua Graham delicately and thoughtful, that is to say If he ends up in the game.

To be fair, though, the only part of the suit we saw in any great detail in FO2 was the head and shoulders. We certainly wouldn't have seen any logo or anything on the sprite.

If they are people that used to be in the Enclave they should have marked out the logo.

Why? Just because they're not necessarily part of the Enclave any more doesn't mean they don't have pride in its symbology.

If the Enclave is back then why did the Enclave use that crap PA in FO3?

In theory, the crap devilsuit in FO3 was what "Advanced Power Armor Mark II" always looked like, with the FO2 style suit being the "Advanced Power Armor (Mark I)."

The stats were totally messed up though since the suit was significantly inferior to the T-51b. Obviously the FO3 stats were incorrect.

There was a FO3? Seriously though, when FNV comes out I'm going to pretend that FO3 never existed.

Seeing as how they did not go along with the others out east they must not want anything to do with the Enclave. I really like the idea of the Enclave getting destroyed in FO2. I like that the word "President" becomes a boogeyman use to scare kids, on the West Coast.

Seeing as how Advanced PA was alot better then "Enclave Armour" in Fo3 and was used in large numbers long before FO3. I have a feeling for FO4 we will see the armour styles of FO3 not New Vegas which will svck.

There are alot of people saying that New Vegas is the True FO3 but we can't just forget about FO3. Not like we can with BoS. Would make FO4 very confusing. Chances are it will be on the East Coast and have alot to do with FO3. We can only hope that Beth learns from New Vegas and add all the awesome stuff from it in FO4. Such as hardcoe mode, damage threshold and the PA armour.

I like it
I really like the design of the armor
although I don't think I'm a huge fan of the helmet
.......I guess I've never been a fan of any of the Enclave's helmets

but it seems alot of the older fans enjoy it
from previous Fallouts
so I'll learn to like it eventually :)

Oh, and thnx to the OP for posting the pic
