What's your favorite old timer music? Fallout got me into it, and I'm sticking to it!

I did buy one of the Inkspots albums (My Prayer) mostly for "Maybe" after I played Fallout 1.
I really liked whispering Grass "Why do you whisper Green Grass? Why tell the trees what they know? Whipsering grass, the trees don't need to know".
There's a few other Fallout songs on that one you'll recognise ("I don't want to set the world on fire" and "Into each life some rain must fall" {with Ella Fitzgerald}).
Its on iTunes along with a few other of their albums and compilations.

I was also suprised to learn thanks to the muppets that a common piece of what I thought was just incidental music had a name and lyrics - the Entertainer by Joplin.

A bit more contemporary, check out the verision of "The long and winding road" on the "Let it be... Naked" album. I gotta say I agree with Mr Mcartney that Phil Spector kinda mangled the "let it be" version (even though I still like that one too).

I know a little Auld Lang Syne, most of British Grenadiers, Botany Bay and Waltzing Matilda.

Folk songs are so hot right now.

Minnie the Moocher is a popular hit. The Blues Brothers version isn't bad, either.

I was gonna put Minnie the Moocher in my list, but changed my mind....anything by Cab Calloway is the cat's meow.
Agree with you on the Blues Brothers version as well.

Oh Yes! and you reminded me of a tune we listened to over and over on AM radio when it first came out because they played it over and over...

It is the epitome of FUNK !

Pre-Reagan. Because Nancy R was a scary lady. So was Thatcher, to be honest.

Seems that Mexican Candy had the Fallout Soundtrack on his mind when he posted. So, I would have to assume he meant music from same era and perhaps style, but he didn't really specify.

Isn't this one from a game or something? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5wcLl13a8s

or there's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_P-v1BVQn8... not to be confused with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yif-5xBbxd4, explanations by Anna Russell

..and no, I'm not as old as she is. That would make me ancient Andy

One term for this music genre is the Great American Songbook, or standards: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_American_Songbook

I like this clip by Rosemary Clooney: http://youtu.be/V0Go8Xep9fY ("I'll Be Seeing You")

I don't go much beyond the early to mid 60's with my "old" music. It was 40-50 years ago so I would think that would qualify.
