old style guns

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 10:36 am

Primitive guns fit perfectly in the TES in terms of technology and such, but what would be the point of having them? They would be so ineffective. Are you really going to use a muzzle loading musket when your surrounded by guys with bows, claymores, and the ability to shoot lightening out of their finger tips? Not likely. Unless you had a mini-gun or something there would be no reason to use them in the game, and mini-guns defiantly don't fit in TES.

There won't be any guns in Skyrim, if you want to shoot something (and honestly who doesn't?) go play Fallout. I will try to be as civil as I possibly can when faced with such a proposition. ARE YOU DAFT MAN?! I grant fable it's props for picking a middle ground that is uncommon to rpg's and difficult to do well, but that's where it ends. I hope that the Elder Scrolls never makes the mistake of advancing to the point of gunpower weapons, then the last great classical RPG series will be forever gone and the world will be darker for it.

This is completely off topic but I always wanted to see muskets done in a cool way (first person of course). I'm a bit of a revolutionary/civil war nerd so it'd be cool to be lined up taking shots while the enemy advances over the crest of a hill. Fix bayonets .. hell yes. Calvary charges ... you know it. BUT ... I don't think that will ever nor should it ever happen in an elderscrolls game.

The history channel made a civil war first person shooter. It's actually really good. I don't know where you could find it these days, but it's just what you want. You could try looking it up, you should be able to find a copy.

This poll needs a "Hell no, and it's about time you creepy gun freaks stop harping on putting guns in TES and go play some other game that's already got guns in it" option.

I bet it'd win.

I have said it maybe 3 times now, fable is not a good game, it should not be remembered cared about or thought of as anything to get ideas from

No, guns don't belong in TES. I want crossbows. That's the closest I ever want TES to get to guns.

There is one firearm which actually fits in the game. It is not very accurate and needs to be fired at a closed range, it fires only one pellet, and since it takes forever to reload, after fired, it can be used as a club: the hand cannon.

What you see underneath is not a trigger, it is a metal spike, which they'd use as a handle to fire, then use the spike to bludgeon heads :)

Adding guns to the Elder Scrolls would COMPLETELY ruin the game's action for me. If you want to play a gun game, then go play a gun game. Leave guns out of my medieval fighting games.
I'm ashamed of myself for buying Fable 2. I should have known as soon as soon as I saw guns that the game was going to be a complete piece of crap. If you want to add that kind of element to an Elder Scrolls game, then the Elder Scrolls is not for you. Stick to trashy games like Fable that offer the bare minimum to its buyers for the maximum profit. And please, keep your opinions as far away from Bethesda's developers as possible.

Even though explosives and cannons already exist, I'm not upset about whether guns are included or not. Even though it breaks immersion, I'm ok with no guns for the sake of solid combat mechanics (despite the incongruity with lore).

"Like in Fable", three words that should never be said, and with that being said... No, never, go home and rethink your life.

If any at all there should be just one. Not an easter egg either, something you pick up on the main quest and it costs a fortune to reload/use

I wouldn't want even this. I never want to see guns in TES. If I wanted guns, I would play a different game. Guns in TES= :yucky:

I greatly prefer TES never to have guns in them, as I have enough games with guns. What I dont have enough of is Games with cool swords/sorcery weapons and gear. If I want to use guns, I'll play Bulletstorm(which is pretty badass), but for my fav. fantasy game, guns being in summons up a hearty "No" from me.

I'd say no, crossbows would be cool though.

That said I'd love to see it just to see all the folks in this thread cutting themselves. :twirl:
