old style guns

How does that compare with Skyrims 4 way dpad compass?

In Fable 3, when you hit pause, instead of going into a menu you teleported into this base, and you would walk into the weapon room to select your weapons, or walk into the apparel room to select your clothing, all in real-time. I hated this, since it took 3 times longer than a normal menu would. And I don't know what you mean when you say "Skyrim's 4 way dpad compass".

But it DOES mean that, were there any of those things in the universe, they would be placed in the Akavir, since Akavir is MOST CLOSELY related to Japan. It's not that it DEFINITELY WILL HAVE GUNS FROM AKAVIR!!!! it's that, if it did have guns, they would be from Akavir.

Why is Akavir so closely related to Japan? Maybe I am not privy to some lore here, but isn't the only relation is that they both have katanas and are both in the east (the latter is completely arbitrary, imo)?

Because a bow is silent, easy to make, and it is faster than a fireball.

And it is a mistake to try to fit in all of the provinces in TES (or any fantasy, really) to areas or lands of our own world. Just because they make katanas doesn't mean that Akavir is Japan. The devs may have drawn inspiration from Japan for Akavir, but that doesn't mean they are going to have samurais, ninjas, and a feudal government. :toughninja:

Honestly there isn't enough solid evidence about akaviri anyway

Why are you comparing it to Skyrims UI then? The four dpad directions brings up a different parts of the menu. Up for skills, right for magic, down for map, left for inventory. Not necessarily in that order, but that's how the UI works now.

But is there another place with more similarities to Akavir? No. That's my point. It's the MOST similar.

I feel like I repeat myself more and more every time I post on these forums -.-

You misunderstand me, I wasn't comparing it to Skyrim, I was off-topic about my dislike for Fable III, and I was saying that when I read the Skyrim GI article and saw the picture of the hand in the stars, the first thing that came to my mind was the sanctuary system from Fable III, which is what I hated in Fable III.

You know what this pole needs? A 'never in a million years' option.

Akaviri also have Japanese style architecture, as evident by clout ruler temple which like the blades, was design after Akaviri style.

Not really important just thought it was interesting.

My point is that while it is the most similar, there is very little similarities, in fact just two, really, which is the katanas and the architecture. It doesn't make any sense that you would assume that guns would be developed in Akavir, just because they have katanas.

Edit: Okay, I see the architecture now. I stand corrected. Two similarities. :)

Is that Japanese or Chinese?

For the sake of argument, let's just say that Akivir is an equivalent to Japan. As I recall, the Japanese did not have firearms until they were introduced by Portuguese explorers. So, they wouldn't have guns, either.

You ask for a billion year continuation. And then another. And then another. And you continue this pattern until the world ends. All problems solve ;)

Does it matter? They're not the real world, they can be a mix of things.

Needs to be a ban on any idea that includes the words "like in Fable". :)

(Also.... it's a multi-choice poll. You could pick all three options at once. Whee!)

Nearly didn't vote, poll biased, but felt it was my duty to vote against any form of cannon, grenade, explosive, or firearm in TES ever. If I ever get that particular itch, Fallout scratches it.

Well I thought the elder scrolls was the middle ages. Not the 1700's...

It's neither; it is its own world so don't compare it to our historical timeline.

Oh, and obviously, no. Were you expecting anything other than a big resounding rejection of that tired old proposal OP?
