Are there buy-able player homes in the game?

Where?

Home Plate in Diamond City. Go see the mayors secretary in the upper deck and pay 2000 caps.

There are other housing options other than settlements, but as far as I know, Home Plate is the only buyable house.

You also get faction based homes/rooms as well from the 3 main factions, and you are given a room in Vault 81 after the Mole rat quest.

Prydwn seems to have a room, you can just craft your own room at any settlement though.

Covenant houses look pretty legit.

Not sure why anyone would want to go to the old housing system TBH aside from nostalgia.

also, you don't HAVE to recruit settlers to all your settlements, I tend to leave the empty ones empty for my own personal use.

I know Preston sends you to put up radio towers but you can take them down immediately after you craft them and the quest will still complete, and if any do show up you can ship them somewhere else.

still trying to decide where I want MY home to be, got a few good locations.

My home is in Diamond city. Plenty of room for my needs.

At first I was excited about the settlements, but now not so much. Too much hassle defending it, recruiting people, crops, water etc. My character is more of a wandering adventurer/mercenary/soldier type, not much of a leader type. Since my main faction is BoS I don't really get too much involved with rebuilding the Commonwealth. :)
