Old World Blues Mostly svcks....

Post » Thu Jul 21, 2011 10:21 am

wow, what a dissapointment, and I had low expectations for it. I've completed the main quest and explored about 90% of the map.

I give it a total score of 2 /10 because:

Enemies: 7/10, The roboscorpions and skeletons and lobotomites and nightstalkers were challenging. There were many situations that were enclosed spaces which made nightstalkers and roboscorpions really challenging. The lobotimites were only challenging in groups, individually not much of a challenge, the skeleton space suit guys were tough to take down. I would have liked to seen more groups of lobotimites and more diversity of tactics with them.

Weapons: 1/10, the only weapon that actually interested me was the Cyberdog .357 minigun....but what absolutely ruined it was its small clip, slow rate of fire, and low damage.....it's a .357 minigun for crying out loud and its damage is pathetic. I tried the other weapons and they were pretty pathetic as well.

Gear: 5/10, the ONLY reason this gets a 5 is because of the plant matter that can be turned into anything. Very useful for a survivalist like me, which means I can focus on making lots of very rare food like Mole Rat Stew with this, (pinto pods).

Armor: 1/10: I don't care what kind of tricks that Stealth suit does, it looks ridiculous on me like I'm in TRON. NO TRON SUIT. Why no power armor????

Perks: 2/10: Absolutely pathetic. Not a single energy weapon or power armor perk. The only reason this gets a 2 instead of a 1 is because the sausage perk looks pretty cool.

Exploration: 4/10, There was some interesting landscape but not interesting enough to justify the small map. The interiors were pretty redundant at times.

Characters: 1/10 Where's Ulysses? I see his flag everywhere. The kitschy mad scientists weren't doing it for me and the juvenile humor of appliances looked like a desperate attempt to divert to a non-existant plot.

Story: 1/10, What story?

Thanks Chris Avellone :tops: You wrote a DLC that is only slightly better than Dead Money (which you also wrote), which makes this the second worst DLC ever.

Not to be rude but it sounds like you didn't look very hard.

I say this because you don't mention hearing Ulysses or Christine, but it's practically confirmed they're supposed to be here. Perhaps not in the flesh, but at least on holotapes.

Wow... This isn't even worth commenting. Actually it's the best DLC for both FNV and F3. Amazing plot, awesome gear and great area. Also The Sink was awesome! To give items personality traits... What an awesome idea! Love it 9,9/10 here :D

It just sounds like another person complaining because the DLC wasn't exactly what they wanted it to be. I give it an 8 out of 10.

optacticz, not the thread to ask that question.

Or maybe it is.

If you like FO, yes it's probably worth it.

I've been playing OWB for 9 hours straight. I have been looking hard but there is always the chance I missed something obvious. I just looked in the wiki and mentions nothing about him in it so far.

Spoiler
Ulysses' Point, just NW of Higgs Village has two holotapes with conversations between Ulysses, and Christine.

:whistling:

Hope this helps. :)

EDIT - Reminds me, I should probably put that in the vault...

did you find his cave (not sure of name) at least (this coming from a person who has yet to play it but has heard of the cave).

They never said you could meet him, just that he was in the DLC in some form. Expect a lot of Ulysses to be in Lonesome Road.

I can easily spend 9 hours playing honest hearts. It took me 20 hours alone to find all the caves and terminals of the Survivalist story my first time.

I thought he would have a conversation with you in OWB and then confront you in LR.

Didn't read through the thread cause I haven't finished it, I actually just started it, but I agree.
The 30 cap trait I cannot pick until I've found the Auto-Doc thingie, which means I'll likely be forced to reach 45.
The enemies are all damage spounges, I brought mid-tier weapons cause I thought they were gonna be fair enemies and I wanted to give them a fair chance, but here are damage sponges which I chip away health at in pure frustration.
And apart from the greeting dialogue which was (while hilarious during the 2nd half and childish during the first half) by far too long there hasn't been any interaction at all.
It's just enemies everywhere, enemies and neon crap.
And from what I heard the perks weren't that spectacular and they [censored] up the 30 cap trait and Skilled.

So far, I have yet to see any redeeming qualities of this DLC and I've never felt this urge to just turn off a Fallout session and watch X Files as I do now.
I enjoyed Mothership Zeta and Broken Steel 10 times more than I have enjoyed OWB.

Maybe I'll change my opinion about it later, but so far it has been the worst DLC yet.
Even MZ was better.

If that were the case, how would you explain doing a playthrough where you play Lonesome Road first, kill him, then suddenly he pops up in Old World Blues? Christine and Ulysses may cross over multiple DLCs but they only appear in the flesh in one each.

Well how would that work?

OWB: So we finally meet, Courier 6
Lonesome Road: Oh hai, its u again. Wanna fight?
