Older mods?

Hello,

I have been having some issues with my game lately as I add more mods. I finally decided, after doing some research, to take care of the problems by downloading TES5edit and cleaning mods that need it as well as removing any mods that may need it.

I remember reading somewhere once about older mods. Some that were made before or around the time the Creation Kit came out could be bad to use, I can't remember why though. My question would be, is this true and if so why? I'd like to understand a bit more so I can further prevent any problems in game.

I use to mod a bit in Morrowind but have forgotten all I knew back then. Also I undertsand from reading that Skyrim is a whole new animal which makes it even more imperative to avoid mod conflicts and dirty mods.

Thanks, Road Ratt

Anything created or even just modified using TESVSnip should be avoided like a plague. Such mods can cause numerous strange behaviours, glitches, etc. If I'm not terribly mistaken, Snip doesn't handle compressing certain records properly and when a mod is saved using Snip, a lot stuff breaks down. Something like that I remember reading a while back.

Actually, newer versions of TESVsnip should be safe to use according to Sharlikran.

I know one tool that shouldn't been used is SkyEdit.
