Now, only a few mods could cause crashes at boot-up; that I am aware of. DarNifiedUIF3 was the culprit last time. I re-installed it and got the patch for it; so it really shouldn't be that now. No weapon or armor mod should be crashing at boot-up, instead those crashes would be from loading a game. So, what is the culprit this time? Any assistance, once again, is readily appreciated.

Further update. Unlike the last time it kept crashing at boot-up, I am getting an error message. "Fallout3 has encounter an error and needs to close"; default XP crash report.

(I apologize if the first list seems a little unorganized. Half of it is copied from the first thread where I had this problem. So if it seems lackluster, and/or there are duplicate entries; I apologize.)

Also, unlisted mods. (As in no ESP/ESM.)

Open your LO in FO3Edit and check the right panel's "Messages" tab for anything about a fatal error. You should be able to discern, from there, which masterfile is missing from your load order and preventing the game from loading.

If it's not over a missing master, try renaming or deleting your Fallout.ini, then let the game create a new one in its absence.

I wasn't quite sure where to look for the load order or FO3Edit; but I checked FOMM's load order report, and it's working out fine from what I can tell.

I tried deleting the Fallout.ini and let it re-create it. Still crashed at boot-up.

I'll be back in twenty or thirty minutes. Need to pick up food; lol.. Inopportune timing, booo!

So this is apparently an ESM issue, as stated earlier?

I know that ESM files are required upon star-up. Do any of the above require an ESM that is just not present?

As Justin said. The best way to tell what file is missing a master is to load your load order into FO3edit. If you are missing a master, it will give you an error and show you what master is missing. Alternatively you can see the masters of each plug-in in FOMM. Just click the mod and it should show you toward the bottom.

You're not using Fellout so you don't need this one:

Destruction - CP - Fellout.esp

Is your version of FOSE fairly recent? Some mods need the latest version.

Edit: Just noticed this:
Feng Shui - Keymap Template.esp

You're missing FengShui.esp and Feng Shui requires FOSE v1.2 beta 3

My apologies, copying error on the second one. FengShui as a standalone ESP file is present. The first one, however... Wouldn't I have had problems before today over something like that?

FO3Edit says I am missing CRAFT. Looks like the culprit has been found!

Thanks everybody for the assistance. Very appreciated once again. :)

Okay. I might have spoken too soon. CRAFT has been installed and so now the Cryo Weapons mod is working in according to the scriptwork it needs; but I am STILL crashing before boot-up; even before the "Please Stand By" screen with the Fallout menu.

FO3edit is saying that nothing is wrong too... Oh jeez, now I am really confused.

Does your game start if you disable ALL mods?

If no >>> Delete your FALLOUT.INI in your My Games/Fallout3 folder. Then restart the game. It will generate a new ini.
If yes >>> Begin turning on your mods one by one. When you get to one that crashes the game, you've found your culprit.

Yes, although seeing as how your game ran fine before adding the six new mods, you can modify it a bit.

Does your game start with ALL mods disabled?

If no >>> delete the ini
If yes >>> Enable all the mods you previously had working.

Does your game start now?

If yes >>> Add back in your new mods one by one. Find out which is causing the crashing. Then post here for help in figuring out why.
If no >>> Add stuff back in slowly until the crash happens.

This... Is weird. All mods disabled except essential ESM files (as in Point Lookout, Mothership Zeta, Operation Anchorage; just the Bethesda Official DLC).

STILL gives me the Windows XP error message and results to closing to desktop.

I've tried deleting the .ini too; multiple times, to let FO3 re-create the latest version. That appears to have done little to nothing.

Question: Are you running FOSE?
Question 2: Are you starting your game by using the FOSE launcher?

Uninstall FOSE and any FOSE plugins. Disable even the DLC. See if the plain vanilla game will start.

If it doesn't, reinstalling the game may be your quickest ticket to a working game. Sorry...

gothemasticator

EDIT: I don't have a good idea what has happened to your game. And, I'm too tired to be a good help at this point. I hope someone with a working brain comes along to help. But, I do suspect that reinstalling will be less time and headache at this point than tracking down the weird problem. Best of luck.

try disable ArchiveInvalidation by FOMM or Archiveinvalidation Invalidated (http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944)

I tried that, and still nothing is happening to fix the error message.

I had similar headaches adding new mods all at once. I've since learned my lesson and install mods one at a time and check to make sure it's working before adding the next one.

I wish I had a suggestion to help resolve your current issue, but sadly I've never become very adept at other peoples problems with mods, I can barely keep my own head above water, but I have learned the above lesson the hard way and have adhered to it with greater successes.

Am I just going to have to respond to a rather extreme threat with an extreme resolution, and that being re-installation of Fallout 3 and any mods that are just texture/mesh overriders?

I would REALLY like to not have to do that.

It's never pleasant. I've just started up playing Fallout again about two months ago. Since then, I have gotten my first mods. I've modded like CRAZY, surpassing my heydays of modding Oblivion into triple digits. It really builds up enthusiasm, you know? Then something like this really kind of just acts as an immovable roadblock that my enthusiasm just darts into.

Well, here's to hoping that round two is better and more enjoyable.

It always is, cause you generally come out wiser. I'm on Round 5 so far. And I'm noticing that what I want out of a mod is small but required Changes.

Okay. This must be a sign from some greater authority that I am not destined to play Fallout ever again.

Re-installed just now.

NONE of the mods restored yet.

Still, same error message. Wow?
