Once and for all, Werewolves are in it, or not?

Post » Sat Aug 20, 2011 7:57 am

LOL... the title of this thread makes me laugh. "Once and for all." My ass. We'll see another 50 of these damn threads before the week's over with.

BTW- both vampires and werewolves have been defiled by Twilight. Teen Wolf. Red Riding Hood.

Doesn't mean Bethesda can't make them better in the game.

Noooooooooooo. That's what Todd wants you to think.

He makes it mysterioso and secrecious so the game feels much bigger than it actually is. If he listed all the features the game would feel very flat.

Keepin' things secret so:
  • Fans aren't pissed off and don't complain if it isn't in
  • As said above, to make the game appear bigger than it actually is (encouraging fans to speculate and expect greatness)

Todd said all this wonderful stuff about horses and the animations being revamped, and the combat feeling much more reactive... Then we see him playing the demo and all that great stuff I was expecting (and was ready to pay for!) wasn't anywhere near as good as he made it out to be.
Still amazing - I mean it's THE ELDER SCROLLS of course it's amazing - but nowhere near as good as he said it would be.
Yeah, Elder Scrolls is cool and all, but if I can't turn into any creature than I am selling the damn game. I was planning to preorder it once werewolves were confirmed, but it seems Todd is keeping a secret until the game is out. What happens when we buy the game and discover werewolves aren't in? I know alot of people don't care, cause they can go fight dragons and catch fish and get laid with a spouse. But I am selling the game until we have confirmation of a werewolf DLC.

do werewolves appear in any of the Elder Scrolls novels?

Yes, werecrocs are mentioned while werewolves and werebears are attacking the main characters in Hircine's realm.
If there not in the game, there will most likely be plenty of mods out there to satisfy all of your werewolf loving needs. Either way Skyrim is going to be a truly epic game with or without werewolves.

For some people it will be "epic" . But whatever. It hasnt been unconfirmed nor confirmed.

Hey guys, I have been watching the statements made by bethesda about this and I started thinking about another idea...

Now, i want werewolves really bad myself, but I do not think they will be in vanilla skyrim. The way they are being indirect about not just werewolves but "transformation" suggests there will be something we are not expecting.

Werewolves would be the obvious choice to allow players to transform, but I think what they are hinting at is that you will be able to transform into "something."

Werewolves have been done before, so they may go this route:

New type of transformation from lore that is unrelated will be tried in vanilla skyrim, and if it does not satisfy players then add werewolves in an expansion.

Now, werewolves and vampires have been done. Transforming to a dragon is lore supported but way over the top and game breaking.
Lich's may be cool but I do not know their lore.
Maybe "ascending" like the dwemer

Just the way they are being cryptic about this seems to make me feel like they are going to try and bring back the werewolf "feel" from daggerfall and morrowind, but make it something "new."

Just my ideas though... I would personally prefer werewolves in vanilla.

Anybody else get what im saying? Or am I nuts lol?

I think werewolves could work in Skyrim. We wont know though until release day. Bethesda wants to keep that aspect of the game secret.

I get what you're saying, and I agree.

But I don't want to transform into some dragon or spriggan or mermaid. I wanna be a bat! Or a wolf.

Well, Cyrodilic vampires can walk in sunlight for one day if they fed. I liked that effect. The other days they just burn up.

Well, if they were combining Daggerfall and Morrowind werewolves, it would be good. For example, Bloodmoon werewolves had some cool powers such as "Eye of the Wolf" similar to "Hunter's Sight" from Oblivion(A vampire power) and "Spirit of the Wolf" which makes the wolf regain health by the minute. Although the normal PC character now regains health slowly, I heard. And Werewolf resistance. It would be cool to keep werewolf powers in human form as well. In Bloodmoon I felt I was a werewolf only when I transformed. It's like saying a vampire is only a vampire at night.

Oh my. TheMightyOrc is rocking one huge Trollface.jpg in here. Hell it might even be a .gif with that number of posts.

You are/were adamantly stating that "some source" has confirmed no werewolves (link?). Don't you think that source might just be a little bit sketchy if absolutely no one here has heard the same? On a site where every drop of Skyrim information is hoovered up, and deposited in a new thread? Unless your source was an email from one of the devs, the chances of your source being accurate is roughly nil.

yeah but they have a reason why they can while others can not.

also Anne Rices vampires could after they became ancient and were basically walking statues of white marble.

even Dracula could once he was fed, but that was because he was ancient and powerful.

he told me that Twilight vampires could from the get go... which why i gave him the death stare.

Yay glad to confirm I am not nuts! You hear that GLADos?
{"murderer"}

Lol but in seriousness, I would appreciate if they wanted to try something new, just as long as I get a werewolf DLC later!

sadly I wont be able to play skyrim pc with a guaranteed werewolf mod as my computer would not even handle oblivion :( Im stuck with the xbox version...

I want both! But if I had to choose one or the other, werewolves would be my choice. Good question too... been wondering this myself from time to time!

I hope not, I could care less if "becoming a werewolf" is a feature because to me, that means they spent too much time on it and less time on other cooler world features.
It was fun in Bloodmoon for 5 minutes.

BUT! I understand that a lot of people would like to become one so I say a nice compromise would be to make it part of a hefty focused DLC where you will get most bang out of your buck.

I would love to see myself change into a werewolf but I would think that it would be too much trouble for the programmers to put in. But then again, they have these awesome dragons in game so anything would be possible. I think that they would just put in Vampires because it is just easier to put people in with sharp teeth.

Well, it was not for sure a werewolf, but in the infernal city there is the one chapter where the person the spy is chasing turns into "something" and decimates a whole roomful of guards... i always assumed it was a werewolf.

If someone knows what it really was, PLEASE tell me!

Cooler world features? Like what? Catching fish or joining a faction? Maybe if turning into a dragon and tearing people apart was in, I would like it. But I fail to see anything interesting other than being something else. Well, it's my opinion.
