One Big Question.

Post » Fri Oct 15, 2010 8:35 am

I have watched a couple of brink gameplay videos and it looks pretty cool. I just have one question. Is there regular multiplayer, as in PvP death match? I know there is co op. If there iis no PvP multiplayer this game will put a great multiplayer system to waste.

It's entirely objective based.

There is no Team-Deathmatch, Domination, Search & Destroy or Capture the Flag as a seperate game mode.
However all but the first are incorporated into the missions.

There's the option of co-op vs. bots AND PvP - but there's no Free-For-All, and they're all objectve-based matches - as mentioned before.

So short answer: Yes.

There will be plenty of opportunities for you to kill people. That just isn't the main point of the multiplayer. It is objective based.

You can play solo with and against bots.
Or coop with friends (and bots) against bots.
Or online with (or without) friends and players and bots against players and bots.

The bots work a little different in BRINK than they do in other games.

If they are not disabled, they will always fill up the teams so it's always 8v8. However, a player can join (if you're playing online) at any given time and will simply replace a bot. The same goes for when a player leaves. A bot will take his place.

According to previews, the people who have played the game had trouble telling which were bots and which were people.

Splash Damage bots are smarter than 70% of players, is the thing.

They dynamically use SMART based on their body type, and approach objectives dynamically based on what other players on their team are doing, and their current class.

I wouldn't call that mindless, and SMART isn't very supportive of prescribed paths...

Well they can do anything you can do. We shall see soon enough. At this rate I would trust the bots more than pub players.

Well, you guys have internet (obviously) and probably gaming press as well. So it's not like you're from outerspace.

And you've probably seen a lot of gameplay from said Expos.
