One Handed Skill for Daggers

Post » Sat Oct 01, 2011 12:10 am

I wanted to ask this, as there is conflicting information out there. and I'd like to know other perspectives on it.

-Daggers were said to be captured under the stealth perk tree
-One Handed skill was said to benefit Daggers
-Perk in the one handed tree, One Handed Prowess, allows for extra damage for all one handed weapons EXCEPT daggers
-Only one perk in the stealth tree gives a bonus to dagger use

So I guess my question is...what? I know we haven't seen all of the one handed perks yet, but if daggers fall under stealth and one handed, I think that's an important distinction. Since the killer perk in the stealth tree is the last perk, we're going to have to invest a lot of perk points in stealth to get to it. If we also have to invest in one handed, that will limit perks for other skills. I had thought there would be 4-5 perks for dagger in the stealth tree, since there weren't, I looked up one handed and sure enough, it says it benefits daggers. Does anyone have any clarity around this? Thanks.

I don't think there is something official about this right now. Sure one-handed should boost the daggers but the stealth skill tree should be more important since they are used by sneaky players.

Yeah it's confusing that both distinct class buff the same weapons but I'm sure they will find a way to make it right.

Personally I would have made a unique class for daggers in the thief skill tree. Maybe even for bows...

My understanding is how hard you hit with a dagger is covered by the 1H skill, and the 1H damage perk-branch excludes daggers, but we don't know for sure if the 1H power-attack perk-branch also excludes daggers, and we don't know if there is a "special effect" perk for daggers in the 1H perk tree (though I would guess not). The dagger is apparently affected by the 6x backstab bonus as well as the x15 one.
