No one's made a bow and arrow yet?

oblivion bows used morphs...And today I figured out how to make custom morphs. So I guess that is a step in the right direction. Though I'm unsure if that would be the best rout to take if you really wanted to make a new animation set...

I guess that could be called from custom weapon animations. but I'll have to test if you can equip a morphed object as a weapon. I'm a bit scared it'll freak or something..

How would I go about porting the bow animation from oblivion to fallout 3? I wouldn't upload it publicaly or anything, i'd just use it personaly. Is this possible?

You'd pretty much have to start from scratch really. Oblivion and Fallout use different NIF formats so you can't simply copy the one over to the other. You'd need to rework it in a program like Blender or 3D Studio Max.

Oops, you're asking about the animations. That would probably be the same thing though since the animations are probably tied in with the skeleton NIFs.

The reason for so many nvde mods is, everyone has their own idea about how the human body should look in a video game, especially the female human body. Those with the talent and the time to do so, make their vision a reality. Most of the ones I've seen are pretty good, so picking one is a matter of personal preference. Many of these mods have a modest version with underwear, so it's not even always about the nudity.

My favorite body mod is TGND for Oblivion, and I really wish the author would have ported it to Fallout 3; but I just have to be content with her Type V body mod instead.

Alright so on the derailed topic
I do agree that alot of people are putting alot of mods up the relate to porm. But hey, its there game and the nexus sites were designed to let you express you idea of you game freely, as long as you didn't break there terms, then you get banned, they are good at that which is a good thing. And I am not going to lie, I use Type 3 body mod and breezes body mod, They look amazing, I have played with the nvde versions and even made my own underwear for type 3 and played with them like that. The bodies provided by these mods, are 200% better than the default one provided by bethesda, no offense you guys make amazing games, I seriously just buy games if you name is on the box. to my point, some people want porm posters everywhere, some people want amazing looking body textures, if you dont like them go into your profile preferences and turn them off so you don't see any of them, Problem solved.

Main topic
I believe that the FOOK team, have abandoned they FOOK project and are moving onto OOK with will add more of an oblivion atmosphere, with magic and medieval weaponry, They are more than likely going to put together some amazing weapons, which could include crossbows, just give it a few more years.

P.S. derailed topic,
It would be really cool it is was as simple as Morrowind though, where there was only Better Bodies, Everything you needed, no reason to fight over which body you wanted to use, just so you could use that right armor, Oh, the simple days, how I miss thy.

The reason there are so many porm mods and Weapon mods are that they are easy to make the entire structure already exists for them to function and creating re-tex's takes all of 30 seconds for some to maybe a couple hours for others either way they take very little time in compairison to creating anything from scratch so 90% of the modders out there follow the path of least resistance and just do the easy stuff.

Even for your own purposes this is not an allowed discussion, but it is possible though it would require someone with animation talents that just does not exist (myself excluded) in the FO community. And someone with the talents required to do this would understand the problems inherent in tring to convert those files over and prefer to just make new ones from scratch.

Actually the only way to conviently do bows will be with Morphs its just easier to animate overall from say a boned skeletoned bow which is an absolute pita to animate smoothly because it requires the use of Animation Springs, Spline IK, Control Surfaces and Reactor Havok with a properly set up World Gravity, Collision Objects and Constraints to get right -> Morphs require only matching the character animation to the bows morph rate they are both compound animations requiring all objects to be in-scene and properly linked and animated to function its just the complexity level of going the morph route is so much simplier.

Three questions come to mind

without all the tech jargon is it possible?

would or could we find a modder with the skills to do it?

would it be worth it seeing as new vegas is coming out soon?

well actually four

would it be better to settle for a crossbow and get it put it in the leveled lists, that is if we could find somebody with the skills willing to do it?

seeing as somebody has already made one if we could get there permission and get it unblocked add it to the leveled list or make them a little more abundant

and sorry about the threadjack but I have had a little help -sorry PhiniusMaster- :shakehead:

Yes, I have already done Bows and X-Bows for my own personal use some wooden and a few made out of junk found ingame already that I wanted to release within my SSP - WE mod but I have no time to polish anything into a state I deem releasable.

would or could we find a modder with the skills to do it?

The only modder around here I know can get this done is myself, animators are a rarity around here.

Not sure, personally I am not going to purchase FO:NV until a solution to the Steam garbage is found, but many others will as they do not care about thier consumer rights being sold off.

There is also the fact that many of us who decode these games are no longer around to decode FO:NV so any kind of exporter updates for that game are going to be far far FARRR.... into the future so as far as Modding plans go think ~1-2 Months just to get NifSkope to be able to open, read and alter all of the new stuff, this is just the very basics of functionality there are tons of people and time that goes into cracking the unknowns and with myself and many of the others that cracked Oblivion and FO3 no longer present for FO:NV its going to take months to get others up to speed on those aspects and even longer to gets the exporters updated -> that is ofcourse based on just how far updated FO:NV is from FO3 it would not be a streach to think Oblivion to FO3 in differences quite a few of those videos show alot of improvements.

The problem with any X-Bow mods made that are based off the Dart Gun are the animations for the DG do not allow for a genuine X-Bow as the string draw is far to small and that can not be gotten around without new animations even one based off the DG's would need to be re-worked to not look strange, on the other hand having something is better then nothing.

Personally I wouldn't mind a small crossbow based on the dart gun, but actually looking like a crossbow. There actually are "crossbow pistols" which would fit the whole idea perfectly. I've tried to use the dart gun in previous playthroughs as more of a "silent killer" weapon and something more along the lines of a survivalists weapon, but the whole toy car and paint gun thing ruined it for me. I will be doing a more survivalist playthrough soon, and would love a crossbow, even just a remodel or something to make it look like a crossbow and not a kid's toy.

And of course I'd probably go without the whole poison/cripple effect too...
