One of my mods is putting some words into german?

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 12:27 am

Just got done installing a bunch of mods including FCOM. Start up a game and get to the point where I am looking at skills and notice that restoration and blunt have both been translated into German. So my question is how do I fix the random German translations that occured? I suspect that it is warcry causing this.

Most probably Warcry. Did you install any DV (Deutsche versions), instead of EV (English versions)?

I installed the english version but perhaps one of the submods (if it has any) did it?

TES4Edit should be able to find the culprit for you. Load your entire mod list, and wait for it to tell you it's finished -- it takes a while, and the list appearing on the left doesn't mean it's completely finished. After it's fully loaded, you should be able to click the + next to Oblivion.esm, then on Skill, and select Restoration or Blunt from the list. On the right, it will show you every mod that edits that skill's settings, and the specific changes it makes.

If you have the English version of WarCry that's not it. Almost impossible to guess what it is w/o knowing your load order, so post that via Wrye Bash: right-click file-header > list mods > paste into post.

I have a working (and correct) FCOM setup, but once in a while I get some rumor subtitle in German too. Especially about the Summerset Isles and Daedra worship. I just learnt that the German word for situation is "situation". ;)

Doubt it is connected to any FCOM mod. For one thing none of them affect the rumor topics AFAIK.

I believe Blood and Mud is a leading cause of this issue. I don't use B&M anymore, but I recall German subtitles being mixed in here and there (and other bits of German showing up in my game) while it was installed.

If you use the final release of the English version of Blood & Mud, from what I recall there are only about four lines of text (dialogue) which didn't get translated into English, and some of those never actually appear in-game anyway. It's unlikely to be B&M, especially when Skills are affected. In fact I just checked B&M ESP and can confirm that it does not touch the skill records at all.

I noticed this, too.
The easiest way is to load your loadorder in Tes4Edit. Sometimes it is a dirty edit that cause this. :)

Maybe I didn't have the final English version of B&M (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12016 is the one I had in my last game; I presume it's the final version)--but I did have issues with vanilla subtitles appearing in German. The Summerset Isle / Daedra worship one is the one I remember specifically.

I had to clean a number of unclean dialogue entries out of that mod...but it definitely didn't touch any skill records. Just subtitles.
