I never said anything about insta death or unbalance...its almost like youre just arguing with yourself because all the points your making have nothing to do with what im saying.
You have yet to really respond to any of my points, you just keep making up things no one has said to argue with yourself about.
Also I highly doubt 90% of the perks as you say will by "meaningless, useless, and mindless."
Also I dont exactly see how you think perks are linear, as todd said "you see a cool sword perk you like, you use your sword more". Theyre giving you the choice to do ANYTHING you want. sounds linear to me.
To clarify I am not arguing your points. Personally I see them as irrelevant. I am talking about the forum public in general thinking that it is some great game imbalance to save them. Sorry for having you argue your points to a wall though  ]
As to 90% of the perks being boring I think I am right. It IS conjecture but I have a strong feeling that many of these "rank up perks are going to be utilized as a fallback to the removal of attributes. I.E. +5% sword damage as a hidden modifier. These have already been confirmed. Just like the mace ignore armor perk. It doesn't really add anything tangible onscreen. Just remember 180 perks +100 ranks. I don't see a lot of these being great game altering experiences. Wich leads to my next point:
I don't think the perks themselves are linear. "Perk Tree's" with an unlocking system by activating a previous perk in the tree is completely linear, boring, and generally overused by every other [censored] RPG on the market. I hope they don't take that route. I am sure you would agree that Skills should be the main method of unlocking perks yes? (possibly level based as well if there are balancing issues)
Sorry if I have agitated you by not directly countering your arguments. I simply responded to your points with my own to open up more discussion from other members.
