One-Piece Body Armor

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 1:12 pm

i heard somewhere (it was confirmed) that since its only piece torso/greaves you can upgrade it by say putting glass inlays to increase protection or maybe add a leather cape it would be much harder to do these thing with it separate

Going from the screenshots it looks like there are several different variations of each kind of armour, eg the "Dovahkiin armour" (Iron armour? Leather?), is shown with just straps, or a briastplate, and the helmet is shown to have both one horn and two horns.

So while we might be getting less armour slots, it should be made up for by the options opened up by the smithing skill.

^ yep but hey we shall see come 11.11.11

As an 360 owner I gotta admit its gotten pretty old and there's only so much you can do. Bethesda stated that they wanted to wait for next gen (I am guessing reference to xbox). How old is the xbox 360? Well that's a trade off to do other things. Cannot wait to play it on my 52sword inch hd screen.

I hope this information is wrong.
There are a lot of other dumb-downs in this game which are bad in my opinion, but at least I can see a reason why someone could like them (no weapon/armor degradation, for example - some people found it to be a pain).
But why did this happen?
I mean, can someone please tell me what is actually good about this since I can't see any good reason behind it? :ermm:
Also, I'm talking about merging of cuirass and greaves only!

Fallout 2 and Gothic have one piece armor. Go to the forums of those two games and tell them they are dumbed down and not "true RPGs" like oh so precious Elder Scrolls.

Please, print screen the replies and share, for a good laugh.

I kind of wonder if the multiple NPC's on screen thing makes a negligible difference. I have my doubts as to whether it matters by much. Having said that, I really don't care anyways. I don't need to mix and match. And yay for multiple NPCs. :celebration:

Damn change. Why does everything have to change? I say we should only play 16 bit games and use land line phones!

This is the change I hate the most. I'd like customization to revert back to how it was in Morrowind, instead it gets dumbed down even more than it was in Oblivion.

I can understand that fewer slots makes it easier for the designers to create new looks, but it limits the player.

I also find it hard to believe that removing a slot will have any significant impact on performance, if any at all. I don't buy the "more NPCs on screen" argument. Even if it's truth to it, the reason boils down to console hardware.

I'm not sure who to believe. My own speculations or Bethesda.
If I trust my own speculation the conclusion is that Bethesda are lazy devs, and I like them less. If I trust Bethesda it'll just fuel my console "hate". I don't get anything positive out of this either way.

If I could choose I'd have Bethesda take inspiration from Saints Row regarding customization.

Others have already said why they were merged so I'll just say this: I was a little disappointed when I found out but it's not that big of deal for me.

And when were those games released and when is Skyrim released?
I can understand those things for old games, but not for new ones.
Also, they used to have those two parts be separate, meaning that they clearly made a step back when it comes to equipment.

Your example is horrible.

You're now being stupid.
I'm not complaining about good changes, just bad ones.

I voted other. At first I disliked it but I've already seen enough evidence to suggest that there is a huge selection of armours, as well as different pieces that can be attached ^_^

I think SOME Robes would be good in one Piece but not metal heavy armour etc

"Dumbed-down" is the new way of saying "this isn't the way I want it." I'd prefer it be separate pieces, but it's not the end of the world to me.

My position is: I would prefer more slots of armour, but providing in game it feels like there are enough options regarding unique looks, I will not mind that much.

Agreed!

Changes are exactly that. Changes. There is no difference to 'lear(n)'.

The changes are only good or bad based on an individuals opinion, so telling people to learn the difference is just plain wrong, as they may have a completly different opinion on the matter.

Compared to the over 20 slots Daggerfall provided this is certainly a let-down and a dumbing down.

I had never thought that they would go for even more simplification in this.

I really hope that the slots will at least be available in the construction set so that we dont have to do silly things again like sacrifice a ring slot to get Argonians a tail slot.

Indifferent. I only ever mixed and matched greaves and cuirass when they had magic properties I needed. Once I could enchant properly, I always just enchanted the best suit of armor I could, whether that was glass or daedra. Besides, some of the best armor (shrouded armor) was one piece anyway. So it really doesn't matter to me.

mix and matching looks awful. so i never did it. firstly, the change means nothing to me, second, it gives the animators the chance to make much more ornate armour, where the curaisse goes over the greaves etc...

the change is a good thing imo

"I never used it anyway" has got the be the worst excuse for an argument I have ever read.
Do people these days get born without basic empathy?

Take bows and arrows.
They hold no interest to me and Ive never used them in the three TES games Ive played.
Were they to be removed alltogether I would nevertheless be upset.
Because it would make for a poorer game for one and also because I know there are myriads out there who very much enjoy playing archery type characters.

So even if you never mixed and matched, you have got to admit that the game is poorer now due to having less content/ options in the dress slot regard.
Why on Earth would anyone be happy or indifferent about less?

It doesnt make sense to me at all.
