One probably heard a million times already

I can't say that I'm not excited to play RAGE because that would be contradictory to everything that Bethesda stands for (really it is).
It's not really the hype about the games but the quality, and although there may have been some defects in Oblivion compared to the massive exploration found in morrowind, bethesda stays true with many of their titles,
but that's my personal oppinion, of course.

With no shame I can say that I'm a real svcker for post-apocalyptic games, oh yes.
I don't know what it is, maybe it's the incredible catastrophy to watch the end of human tyranny cannibalising the remains of modern society bombed by nuclear warfare,
maybe it's the change of a once technologically advanced world scraping broken parts to either sell, trade, or use to your own personal benefit,
maybe it's the lawless laws of the jungle every post-war citizen have to abide to, to eat or be eaten.

We could say it's basically all of those ideas, everything that creates one portrait upon the other, a very rough and burned edge of the canvas painted with oil and sweat.
It's cruel and it's vast, a harsh nature of a boiling desert filled with holes from machine guns and their burning bullets, the survival of one fending for himself, all alone, the outcome of the greatest of hells, one that man created, one that man have to deal with.
It's a concept that has both depth, as well as triviality, choosing between the sides of extrinsic contra the intrinsic, in each end reaching a collaboration between yourself and the world around you trying to find an understanding, and profit for the both.
Of course, that is up to the person in question, to choose, because in the end, there is always a choice. To live or not to live, to kill or not to kill.

But that raises the grand question of all, that very same question everyone's been asking themselves, one that many will probably bite their fingers of and scratch their eyes out because of me writing it down.

Where is the RPG elements?

To be fair, I have not played it yet, so I don't know how it will end up.
BUT, and with capital letters in every character, isn't the RPG exactly what a post-apocalyptic world is about?

Skills may not be needed, perks may not be needed, abilities may not be needed, maybe not even the slighest physical modification for your characters appearence, and yes I am very stuck with fallout and the elder scrolls franchise which is why I mention this thing in the first place,
but if there's one thing a ragged, wretched, bombed, blasted hell like a doomed earth needs is the ability to scavange and sell.
Anything that is valuable to you, you either take, steal, trade, or buy.
Anything valuable to others ends up with the same options.

Raiders steal anything they can get, gathering in large groups to survive any other drifter there is out there.
Traders scavange the ruins of a forgotten world to bargain for profit getting the most of their lives through selling and buying.
Bounty hunters pick the lawless targets for hard cash as local civil-guard or loners looking for work.

The raw basics of a "madmax theme" leans it's biggest aspects towards the freedom of choice, which is why a non-based RPG FPS leaves that weathered wasteland a very flat, and perhaps monotone expression.
As I said, I haven't played it yet so I can't tell for sure how they will pull it off, but if there's one thing left that will never leave that genre alone is an open-world to escavate and loot.

On the bright side, the world moves incredibly, and it looks like a really full-fledged land of a long forgotten mankind, in that view it's totally awesome, and the rest is up to the gods of bethesda.

I guess I've said quiet a bit, but I hope you understand my words anyway :P

Have a nice day.

To clear something up, Rage isn't an RPG by Bethesda, it's a shooter by id.

I agree, it does look like a lot of fun. It's supposed to have customizable weapons and a shooter from id is always a good thing as far as I'm concerned.
