Doesn't all creatures outside respawn?
I thought only creatures "inside" didn't respawn.

Why would you leave 1 Deathclaw alive? I mean once you've looted the bodies of their power armor and other goodies it highly unlikely you're ever going to return to this spot.. I know in my game, now that I've done it - I'm never coming back - what's the point?

But to answer your question - I don't know, the Fallout Wiki states if you kill all the Deathclaws - if you do return they don't respawn.

There's a house in Nipton with a hostile Mr. Handy in it that respawns, but I don't know if that's unique.

I guess to re-live the fun of fighting an army of deathclaws? If leaving one would ensure they respawned, that is, I'm not sure if it works that way though.

I can see a reason for wanting them to respawn. They are HUGE in this game and worth battling again. My first time there I did almost all of it myself. Now that I have learned to mod and have 3 companions, I'm curious how they'd handle the Promontory. I could just watch or help a little. I know I can reload an earlier game to check this out but either way, it's for the epic battle and test of your skills or newly-found weapons, you know? :)

This relates to a convention of a lot of action RPGs over the years -- leave one enemy to prevent respawning (e.g., old Legend of Zelda), or leave one to ensure respawning (examples escaping me offhand).

I don't think Fallout NV works in either of these ways. I think some types of enemies are tagged to respawn, and some aren't, so the number you kill is irrelevant.

The Fallout Wiki claims that if you kill all of the deathclaws, including the alpha and mother, they do not respawn. Since you left one alive I guess this won't be the case.(?)

Oh, I totally forgot about this. Yeah, I think the alpha and mother are special, and things will respawn around them if they are kept alive.

You want to keep such a large population re-spawning to quickly farm all three ranks of the Abominable perk.

I killed all of them five or six times, they do respawn.

Oh? Not in my game. :(
I've gone back there three game-weeks later and while a few "normal" ones had come back, the mother/alpha & large "packs" had not. Maybe it's one of those sometimes disappearing enemies bug tho...I'll try saving nearby and reloading repeatedly to see if they show up then...

Well, the armor glitched too so, more than likely mine has the bug.
