Love the music in FNV. So much in fact, I could have sworn that I heard a Fallout 2 song in the hotel in Primm. :P

Am I the only one who recognized it?

FNV uses music from the previous Fallouts.

the only time i turned the music off at all was while i was talking to Chief Hanlon, because my volume settings were weird and the BOOM BOOM BOOM military drum music was drowning him out (i turn off dialogue subtitles~).

haven't used the pipboy radio once because of this. as someone somewhat interested in getting into videogame scoring, the http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/6173/the_music_of_the_mojave_wasteland.php is interesting enough, but coupled with both the music and the incredible sound design of the game itself, New Vegas probably has the best audio of any game i've ever played. it more than makes up for the "dated" graphics to me.

The music in this game is amazing, probably one of my favorite soundtracks since Morrowind. The ambient pieces fit the mood of the game so well. I especially love the piece that plays around Goodsprings.

The music on the radio is terrible imo, but the background music in this game is indeed very good.

Yea the background music and sound affects in certain area's are pretty good, but the radio music kinda svcks except that Johny Guitar song. The others kinda blows and there is actually a lack of music IMO..

I absolutely love the ambient music that plays when the radio is off. The oldies/country stuff grates on me like chewing on tinfoil though...

I have also turned off the radio for most times because it seems like they imported much of the "natural" music directly from Fallout 1 and 2 and thus it really gives me the Fallout feeling.

Also why is there so few song on the radio? There seems to be about 3-4 songs that repeat

I absolutely love the new music system. No more sudden and abrupt blaring combat music, but nice and slowly picking up pace, faster for more enemies. Area music is more varied and the actual new material is more atmospheric and ambient even when being dramatic.
The revelation of what exactly House has hidden under the fort sent shivers down my spine, that was just grand execution. ^_^

Actually it's just one or two songs less on RNV than were on GNR. Though even those got repetitive after the 20th hour or so. ^_^

I was never the greatest fan of the music on the radio in Fallout 3 but in New Vegas it's even worse. On the other hand, I really enjoyed the ambience of the Capital Wasteland and I think that the ambience of the Mojave Desert sounds even better.

I love that quavering violin ambience they have, reminds me of Agatha's station in F3. I'm quite fond of all the country songs on the radio too, reminds me of San Andreas.

galaxy new radio was far far bettter than what ive heard on new vegas so far :cryvaultboy:
there was so many good songs and 3 dog had a better personality

In new vegas there seems to be far less songs and only 2-3 which play in the casinos on repeat.

But yea the ambient music is much better than on F03

I personally loved the music, both in the radio and when it is turned off. Got that old country feel to it.

Dunno why you guys don't like the radio...

I mean come on Blue Moon, Aint That a Kick in the Head, and Jingle Jangle Jingle have got to be some of the greatest songs of epicness I have ever listened to. There are a few more but can't remember the names...

You have to remember some people can't handle the level of repetition the radio has, particularly if they don't like every song. I never listen to it in the pip-boy, but I quite like it coming through the world radios and such it adds flavour.

The "proper" background music is excellent though. The way they've used music from the three previous games plus the way it blends when you approach different areas is clever.

Know what this guitar/violin ambience reminded me of? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftvpi-6Z6qw. And that is one of the most awesome things I can say about music.

I like the music just not as much as Fallout 3 but maybe that is because I have heard those songs so many times.

Far from perfect. Johnny Guitar is terrible I cant listen to the same station for 30 mins without hearing the same song 4 times.

Ugh Johnny Guitar is TERRIBLE...makes me want to rip out my eye balls and strangle myself with them...ugh.
There are probably a select couple of songs that I can handle that are on the radio...but really I was VERY disappointed in the radio on this game. I LOVED FO3's radio, so much so I put some of those songs in ym play list haha.

The music that plays w/o the radio on, it's wonderful and i love it....first time since Oblivion really.

I agree with this. I too never use the radio on my pip boy, but I love hearing it when I enter a place that has a radio on. In definitely adds flavor to the game. And the ambient music in the background is pure awesome.

I like the music too! Great, but I wished they kept the KETJING sound if you discovered a place or get XP from killing etc.

Now they have an explosion type of sound. Cool too, but KETJING for xp is just more cool. Well, in my humble opinion. ;)

I personally think they hit a homerun with both the ambient music (lots of FO1 and FO2 in there) and the radio music.

The ambient music and the radio music really fits the landscape/mood of the land pretty well in most cases .
I do agree there needs to be more radio songs though.

I have about 10 hours gameplay into it, haven't listen much to the radio yet (like the Supermutant radiostation ^^) but I like the ambient music execpt for the original F1/F2 scores though. Don't get me wrong, I love them but for me they are emotionally attached to places in F1/F2, hearing them in FN:V feels kinda odd to me.
