One thing I don't get about Centurion/Vet Ranger armor

Post » Wed Dec 09, 2009 7:36 am

Whenever I walk in an NCR base with, say, an NCR Mantle Armor, it is a disguise because I am just a random grunt. Same deal with Legion. However, if I wear Centurion armor(the most 1337 armor the legion has) while idolized by Legion, they talk trash and show no respect, for example they may say "Degenerates like you belong on a cross!" I'm sorry, but I thought Centurions/Veteran Rangers were feared, respected and people looked up to them. I don't feel these armors should be disguises. For example, if I am Vilified by the NCR and walk into McCarran with a VR armor, they should be wondering what the hell a Ranger is doing there and be suspicious. However, they should still be considered faction armor in the sense you walk into the opposite's camp and they will open fire, regardless of reputation.

Prime Example: Super hero of the NCR, the Mojave Legend who saved Kimball's life, has eliminated Caesar and forced the Legion into a retreat, can't use his NCR status in conversations because he is disguised as a badass Ranger.

Thank you :)

I think that only clothing that covers your face should affect the factions POSITIVE reputation, what i mean is if i wear Centurion armor and are Idolized by Legion, i should still be recognized since the helmet doesnt cover my face, but the NCR will still attack me because i am wearing the armor.

This is a good idea actually. I think VR and Centurion Armor should actually be 'reputation droppers' IE, instead of altering your NCR Rep while donning Ranger armor, you should only become SOS (Shot on sight) by Caesars Legion, Powder Gangers and whoever else is openly hostile to NCR. Same is true for Centurion Armor.

If you are liked or higher, any faction armor you put on that is for that faction, it should not effect your rep with that faction, but still make you shoot on sight with enemies of said faction.
Negative rep works as it does at the moment.

Sometimes I hate that faction armor makes you hostile towards a faction. I like the Veteran Ranger armor, but when I do a Caesars Legion playthrough I can't wear it.
