There was plenty in Oblivion that was good and will be in Skyrim.

Like swords. Swords are good.

I agree. Anyone who attempts to defend Morrowind's sidequests is a fool. In some regards, I enjoyed the guild quests in Oblivion more than the main quest.

This again. I had so much fun enjoying the side quests that I didn't even start the main quest for 2 years, which the main quest was kinda meh for me.

Hopefully they do a better main quest, and have side quests as good as Oblivion. Hopefully better.

For me, I'd love to see the amount of caves and ruins that were found in oblivion. But I'd like to find some unique books in them...that tell me more about why they are now abandoned.

Believe it or not... hardcoe mode is actually not really some variable set in stone.

In some games, it has no direct effect on the game's "difficulty" at all. Instead, it adds in different challenges which more accurately reflect real life. Such as Fallout: New Vegas and having the need to eat, drink, and sleep. This is something that the Elder Scrolls community has been designing, on its own, since Bethesda first put the tools in their hands.

There's nothing contradictory about the statement. It's not about difficulty.

It's about realism. Realism just makes the game a bit more challenging, sometimes, because you have to think like a person and not like a player.

I would like this. It would make houses a lot more useful as it's a guaranteed safe place to sleep. Can also fill up your pantry's with food from the merchants so you don't have to worry about eating.

Also, the Dark Brotherhood. Will be very mad if they're left out.

The thing I appreciated most was NPCs had schedules, they didn't just stand around in one place 24/7. You could see them coming and going. Eating, sleeping, going to work, going to the tavern, reading books, etc. But we already know we will see more of this in Skyrim only more improved (hopefully!)

yea it is a really good idea that NPCs have a schedule, its a lot more interesting.

I will have to go with magicka regeneration as well.

Actually...

The Dawn/Duskfang Sword!!! the more people you kill with it, the stronger it gets!

This, but not just the one sword, I want the idea carried on to Skyrim! More dynamic items please.

And for the sake of realism, it's better to have restoring magicka with time.
There's not much reason to restore your magicka when you activate "rest" and when you're doing exactly the same but didn't press "rest". Unless the characters lay down or do something really different when "rest" is activated.

"Rest" and "wait" are two different things. It's your state of mind while resting (that is, sleeping, deactivated brain, trance, whatever) that allows you to regenerate your magicka pool naturally. So "for the sake of realism" doesn't work, as sense of realism differs/is subjective, and unreal since magic isn't real. Oblivions regenerative magicka pretty much destroyed the game, and the few (was it only one?) mage I made didn't get far until I got all "this is just too stupid and weird, I'm making a new one". As already stated, magic used to be powerful but had consequence, now it's weak without thought, just to balance things out. But alas, it wasn't just magicka, it was more the sense of the whole sensation that there was no consequences or thought to your actions. Compare that to FONV where pretty much anything you do has *some* negativity to it, makes you think twice.

What do I want from Oblivion? Easy. Ridable horses.

I thought reading the scrolls made you go blind...

So was the mage who's place to took to read the scroll already blind? And my character opened it up and looked at it, and he didn't go blind. And what about the Gray Fox? He didn't go blind either.

The Dark Brotherhood, or a similar guild; mudcrabs, nasty creatures (not really); Daedric Princes; The Deep Ones
Make it so! :deal:

Something that wasnt in Morrowind, but was in Daggerfall and Oblivion.

Stores and guilds having open and closing times.
This, combined with the new feature in Oblvion of NPC's having a schedule, going to sleep, eating, made the world feel more real.
Id also like to see a return of cost for fast travel, like in Daggerfall.

Flowers or some Feather Spell thing so when i start my First Game, i can walk around Skyrim and collect items to make lots and lots of Feather Potions, since i am so sick of always being Overloaded of whatever i carry.

I very much agree.
I didnt even know there was a main quest until maybe my 10th playthough when I thought: what havent I done yet?

Not only were the Morrowind side quest more varied and interesting than in Oblivion, they also offered real choice.

Remember that Ranis quest about a necromancer in Maar Gan? You could just go there and kill the woman.
Or.. you could talk to people a bit, find out shes not a necromancer, and let her go.
Both options were equally valid.
And there are many, many more like that, such as the interweave between the fighters and thieves guild quests.

In Oblivion you were always the goody two-shoes and there was always only one way to do a quest.

So.. anyone that think Oblivions side quests were better than Morrowinds just hasnt been paying attention.

Legion armour. I hated Morrowind's Legion armour, but oh my... the common Legion armour in Oblivion, for patrols and Imperial City guards, was by far my favourite in the entire game. I absolutely love it, and hope we see an antiquated set make a return in Skyrim.

If not, modders, you know what to do :P

Oh oh oh! I know there's practically no chance of this, but the Dragonsword of Lainlyn was beautiful and steeped in rich Hammerfell history. I'd much rather forgo the cliched Umbra or the bloodthirsty D-fang in lieu of the noble and beautiful Dragonsword :)
