One thing that always confused me...

Post » Wed Dec 22, 2010 9:57 am

We all know that the nanosuit has a material to bend light particles to enable a cloaking field to envelop the suit...

But I know for a fact that there is no way that every single gun in the Crysis game world has the same nanosuit material and powercell to cloak the gun by itself.

So. How is it that whenever the player engages cloak, the gun somehow magically cloaks with the suit? If the suit has a cloaking field that surrounds the suit, then why doesn't a section of wall cloak when I rub up against it, or why doesn't a throw-able object picked up from the ground (not a weapon) not cloak with the suit but a weapon can?

Granted, we all understand that this is just a video game, but this completely breaks the immersion for me whenever this happens.

Same reason why blue squid-like aliens could fly without proper aerodynamics: it's a game.

The thrusters are not made for zero G there made for water hence the name Hydro Thrusters.

So, let me get this straight; no one here actually has an explanation (maybe given by someone from the wiring staff at Crytek) about how the hell a gun can cloak with the suit? And you are all totally fine with that?

Is there a way I can contact the writers of Crytek and ask them myself?

Its for gameplays sake.

If you dont likeit, go to crymod and convince someone to make a mod where guns dont cloak with you, or one where EVERYTHING you pick up cloaks

I have no need to do that. I have coding experience and could attempt it myself; I don't care if it is not implemented, I simply would like to know why the game functions like this.

because cloak is pointless if the guns don't cloak.

Some of the technical mumbo-jumbo that's available on the Nanosuit is pretty awesome. If you've never been to http://www.crynetsystems.com make sure you go check it out and read it! It appears as though the whole gun cloaking aspect was overlooked in the technical documentation. We'll need to get that updated! :D

Because it is a sci-fi GAME with the most advanced game engine ever created running it! The game can be very realistic, but at the same time you to throw in some fun.

It might not be the material that creates the effect. Consider this, the suit generates a field that creates the light bending effects, then theoretically the gun wouldn't matter. The field of course would be localized meaning everything a person in the suit touches wouldn't turn invisible. At least that would be a better explanation than nothing.

I doubt we know the truth about it, but...

Look at it like this. If you went into cloak and you're guns weren't cloaked, how effective would the suit be? The enemies would be like:

"WTF is that ****?!"
"ENEMY!?"
"Why is that gun... HEY! ENEMY!"

I could think up of more crappy enemy reactions, but what I'm trying to point out is if the enemy sees you're gun, but you're cloaked, he's obviously going to fire at you, or at least, I think. :P

It destroys your cloak use. And stealth mode is needed greatly if you wish to sneak past an enemy at close range.

MGS2 had stealth camouflage, and whenever you were in First person view, the gun was never cloaked, it looked weird.

guys is obvious that the topic starter knows that it was made in terms of gameplay cause a flying gun wouldnt be that much of a disguise, not everyone in this forum is retarded you know xD
so is a bit useless to continue saying the same thing over and over again, try to use your imagination instead to find a possible explanation that it could have if it existed in real life

here is mine, some kind of excuse i just made up for this fact: the nanosuit can generate the cloak effect not only on the nanosuit but also on other things close to him through a wider electromagnetic field, therefore the nanosuit calculates were your weapon is and transfers the effect to the position of your gun so your gun can also be hidden, this way it would only cloak things you want and not things like a wall your touching or such
its the best i can think of :P
