One Thing that MUST have a toggle

The battlecry is horrible and detracts from the game and the mature atmosphere it puts forth. At least make him sound like a man, not a pre pubascent 14 year old.

Anime voice? How the [censored] do you get that?

I've watched plenty of anime years ago and this voice sounds very anime-ish to me.
And that is not something I want in my damn Western RPG. :P

I don't undetstand my people hate the finsihing moves so much. Is it because after 100's of hours it will get annoying, because thats the only reason i see.I don't see how it breaks immersion.

It does break immersion when you play in first-person. When I play in first-person, I imagine I am the character - I see the world with "my" eyes, hear it with my ears, kill enemies with my sword.
Now do you see how seeing our character in third-person would be immersion breaking for people like me? :P

Everybody remembers that dragon battle from that bit of gameplay footage at E3 right? the part where the character climbs up on the dragon's back and buries his axe in it's skull, screaming "DOVAKHIIIIIIIN!" ... .... ...remember that?

Epic right?

I don't really think so, myself.

My personal thoughts when I saw this footage were that the scene smacks just a little too much of "LEEEEROY!"

I think there seriously needs to be a way to turn this suppposed battlecry feature off, way, way, WAY too corny.

It's kinda funny if that's what they're going for but I feel like these parts of the game with the dragonslaying and worldsaving are supposed to be kinda serious, yes?

My point is, who's going to take a hero who screams his OWN name in battle seriously anyway? I personally won't be able to slay a dragon without collapsing into gigling fits when this happens and it's going to totally break my gaming experience.

Thoughts?

You guys do realize that it's most likely not in the game, right? They just needed something to end the demo with and he didn't do it when he killed the first Dragon.

No, I hated it too.

I mean you wouldn't finish off writing an essay and then yell 'COLLEGE STUDENNNNNT!!!!!', would you? I mean I know its not exactly the same but still, it was ridiculously stupid to me and if it's not just a scripted demo thing I'll be annoyed.

I didn't used to. Since the vids, I announce everything I do with a shout.

True, it did look like something for demo-pusposes only. I can't imagine Beth implementing such a thing in the final game but, seeing how stoked (and nervous) those guys were to show off the demo, I can see they'd only use it in that particular instance - apparently they showed a few other things that were just for the demo, anyway.

Nice one!
Now tell us whether forced third person finishing moves (like the one of the final dragon in the demos) are optional or have a toggle :o

I somewhat agree with what your saying. It would be nice if the shout was a little more intense and intimidating sounding. I dont think its likely though that there will be an option to toggle it out.

Beowulf did the same thing when he fought Grendel. I think it's fine. Would be okay without it but doesn't bother me that it's there. Besides, we don't really know if it is going to happen every single time you kill a dragon or absorb a soul. Or maybe there might be varied battle cries.

I was hoping it was added in for the purposes of the demo.

If not, I'll just have to mute my TV everytime I kill a dragon, just incase.

EDIT:

I love them. I'm all for my combat experience to be visceral and engaging. Especially when i'll be playing Skyrim for years to come. :tes:

That's probably the best and shortest dev reply ever.

Only now, that means somebody had to make an animation like that that would only ever be used once.

Yeah, I was thinking that too.
However since the Nords have some kind of "battle Cry" racial power, maybe that's what the animation is from?

I really, really hope the Dovahkiin yell is not in the game, but I have hope. :D

I agree with you there. Either this is the dumbest topic ever on the forums or just some guys having fun while we wait for the release.
