One Thread manz problems...

Ok, I'm close to giving up.

I've been fooling around my new Morro install on my new and shiny rig for 2 day now.
And the solutions are not anywhere in sight.

The PC came with Win7 Ultimate 64 and it is a huge step in direction "anywhere" -from my old trusty and reliable ol XP pro- I'm just not sure whether to :banghead: or go :toughninja: on Gates and his ever growing circle of zombie coders.

Here the deals.

First off.
Installed Morro in C:\Programme\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\
I omitted the original \Programe Files (x86)\ and the like, to prevent the problems that plagues the directory.

Probably the most important issue on this new install/Rig.

Can't made Wyre Mash run/work. Even thought I used it since the Merethic Era of Wyre.
Installed all the needed Phyton scripts and extensions, like a good little poster child of "Read Me's"
Unpacked Mash in the Morro DIr and no go.
The shortcuts don't work and playing with the shortcuts properties was fruitless.
Tried to change the paths and still no avail.
Here how they look.

"%PROGRAMME%\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Mopy"

 %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Python25\pythonw.exe mash.py

I'm no noob to Wyre, I used it endlessly on older XP Rig and no matter how much i reinstalled, I always installed Wyre correctly again.

TEStool Works, but is like always a paine in the butt.
And still crashes if the modlist is long.

ReorderMods works wonky.
The reordered/finished load order is never reflected in the Data Files (Launcher)
No matter how much I reorder them. The in the Data Files the order is the typically ordered by dated one.
But I also must admitt, that i generally alaws used Wyre for reordering. So I'm not sure if I may be missing something here.

Mloxx is a no go too. Everything that comes with phyton is doomed it seems,

On the other side, MGE works frakking Great, though newer had the Calculating power to run it like this.

Any one wanna share the wisdom on this Win7 and Wyre.

Or is an install in a totally different dir in order? :shakehead:

What seems to be the problem with mash, also did you try going into the mash folder and double clicking on mash.py

Rather than
"%PROGRAMME%\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Mopy"
Use:
"C:\Programme\\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Mopy"

"%stuff%" is a system variable, so "%systemdrive%" is the drive Windows is installed on, "%temp%" is your temporary files directory etc etc.

There's no system variable "%programme%", at least not in the UK English version of Windows I have.

The "%programme%" is the custom path i used for the Morro install.
My system is native English. I just omitted the regular Dir, to avoid the famous file hiding that windows7 uses in some Dir's.

Usually Installed programs or games go to the "Program Files (x86)" standard dir.

Mash wont work whether i click on the provided shortcut or the mash.py script.
So much i tried already.

Will try the suggestion when i get back home, in the mean time however, I'm looking for a Morrowind tool, that allows me to edit the characters descriptions and jourmnal entries (among many other things) of existing saves / games.

I had it on my old hard drive, but for the hell of it, i cannot remember the name. Looked explorer-ish, with a side bar to the left and a main window.

Ta for the help.

Keep the suggestions commin'.

Cheers

snip

I highly advice against putting anything you play/modifiry frequently in "programme" folder. My MW would never run from that location, neither would MGE get initiated. Weird stuff happens. I suggest making your own folder from the base of the drive. Something like "C:\Games\MW\"

Do you think that a copy and paste job to another Dir\ would do the trick?
Or does is have to be a new installation to said new \Dir??

Installed the Game to c:\Games\ dir and seems that some things a fine now, however, instead of doing nothing, Wyre now actually tries so start (which it did not in the older install) but now I get a Python24.dll missing message.

Browsing tru the net brought forth no decent answer.

All swings between mal'ware and reinstall Python. Which i did a few times. :brokencomputer:

Any ideas.
