Online Arena Matches

Wouldn't it be cool if there was an arena in skyrim like in oblivion but there was an online option where you fight against another real person.
and if you die then you go back to your last save or something?

Already thought of. Use search bar next time please.

And yes its sounds like a nice multiplayer feature but the idea of implementing multiplayer of ANY kind in a TES game is a bit divided here.

I really doubt that Bethesda will ever implement multiplayer of any kind.

That could be fun...but with a gameworld as open to exploitation as the Elder Scrolls games have been since Morrwoind...I suspect it would soon be dominated by annoying kids using very similar methods to battle each other.

I certainly would hope that they wouldn't ruin a perfectly good franchise with any form of multiplayer.

Morrowind was at first intended to be a MMO. I was actually first interested in it a few years before it came out when I saw a small quarter page blurb about the MMO in a weird unique world. I think it was either GamePro or perhaps Action Trip, back when that magazine existed.

I think it could be fun, as could some kind of (LAN-based?) sandbox multiplayer, along the lines of Red Dead Redemption.

Integrating multiplayer into the core game would svck horribly, but having it as an optional feature could be entertaining, if it was done well.

Seems like it would be hard to make the content for multiplayer though.

If it was just PvP there would be massive balancing issues, to the point where it would either severely restrict players or would just have to give up on balancing.

If it was questing it would similarly be hard to set up adventures that two together couldn't just plow through.

Could be really cool if done right though. Two mages or a mage and a warrior, or any combination really, going up against more enemies and hopefully more powerful enemies. Creating synergy or just running around smashing guys with hammers and whatnot.

Quite the task to tackle but if anyone can do it...

No internet, please no internet. Why does everyone want internet in their games? What happened to gaming be a social recluse's hobby? No internet!! :yuck:

Would be amazing. But the roleplayers will QQ that it ruins t3h 1mm3rsion. It would be a great feature though, will definitely bring some extra fun to the game. Plus it would be a way to really test your character's build.

And will inevitably lead to stupid arguments about perfect builds.

I would hope for the internet portion, were there to be such a portion, to be entirely separated from the single player portion.

The problem for me would be that creating a good and balanced multiplayer component would take a long time and thus would take resources otherwise attributable to bettering the single player experience.

If the multiplayer were tacked on without much work put into balancing it it wouldn't take many assets from singleplayer mode...but would likely face huge issues in regard to balancing and just being steady.

If there were to be multiplayer it would probably be best if developed entirely separate from a single player version....and that would svck if it delayed single player ES at all, because that is the heart and thus far entire existence of ES.

Also,

D: I still never got a fishy stick. I feel so left out.

Also, I wouldn't like it. I'd be too afraid that it would do to Skyrim what happened to Bioshock 2. That game could have been so much better if they didn't bother with the multiplayer.

This would probably be the only place where I'd want to see multiplayer in an Elder Scrolls game. Maybe an option to either face NPC's or real players.
Probably wont happen, but it's not as bad as suggesting an MMO, as this kind of multiplayer is confined to one spot.

Also, I never got a fishy stick

Cool it, guys. You know that mods tend to lock threads that turn into fishy-stick fests.

Well, I got mine so I'll stop. Anyway, I stick by my idea I've presented for this thread. If you do choose to face a human player, they should match your opponent by your stats or the closest to your stats to prevent one sided matches. They would also have to disable any mods (assuming there can be mods) when you enter a PvP arena match, then turn them back on when you leave.

That's the best I could think of. Obviously they wont put any multiplayer in, and I'd be more than happy with that. This is just a supporting suggestion.
