Online Multiplayer In Fallout

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 3:18 am

I have not played an offline game in a long while. But I absolutley loved New Vegas. How could there not be an online version of it?

What they have to do is have to worlds, one huge world like the Mojave wasteland, which is single player only, and another version where players can participate in multiplayer using their charectors.

I'm talking team DeathMatch, Search and Destroy, Sabatoge, capture the flag, all that good stuff.

And why not throw in cooperative storylines where you would roam the wastland with your buddies, complete an epic storyline? Can you imagine how cool it would be if you could walk from Goodsprings to Primm with 3 of your buddies, but along the way, you don't only have AI controlled powder gangers to worry about, you gotta worry a bout other player, possibly a higher level than you, attacking your crew.

IT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

I'm seriously considering starting an online petition to make this happen. I know the company that makes this game is solid enough to pull it off.

What do you guys think? Ideas? Comments?

If Obsidian spent all their time making this multiplayer, that huge, awesome single player world with the epic storyline wouldn't exist. There's always gotta be a trade-off.

Several reasons why it didn't have multiplayer.

1)Dev teams are'nt infinite with a bottomless pit of resources. To implement multiplayer, they'd have had to have dropped other features that they just wouldn't have had time to work on.

2)Multiplayer has to be coded during the very, very early stages of engine coding. New Vegas is based straight off of Fallout 3, which had no multiplayer support either. Obsidian would still be working on it if they'd had to tear everything apart to start coding multiplayer in.

3)They didn't want to do it.

Several Reasons why it won't happen with New Vegas now.

1)Engine won't support it

2)Too much work, not enough gain at this point.

3)Obsidian have moved on, they have other projects to work on now.

I'm talking team DeathMatch, Search and Destroy, Sabatoge, capture the flag, all that good stuff.

New Vegas isn't a mindless FPS.

I am for never having multi-player in Fallout. It detracts too much from the single-player experience.

Not supporting this.

I want that my protagonist is a special person, not just another random jerk with no story.
I don't want my daily heroics interrupted by some supa_BOS_kid_99 who comes stealing my kills and trolling.
Multiplayer inevitably means cutting single player elements. Fallout is fundamentally a single player story, open multiplayer would destroy everything that is Fallout.
Game modes like CTF and Deathmatch, while arguably entertaining, are not meant for this game. Those modes exist for themselves and thus they can exist in their own realms, not invade games deeper than mindless gore.

No matter how well conducted I don't want any form of multiplayer in Fallout. Along with EA, aliens and titles containing "Brotherhood of Steel".
