Only 50 Perks

Post » Sun Jun 19, 2011 7:19 am

You can ultimately have about 70-80 perks, but normally you would reach to about 50 perks.

This is incorrect information. Someone (I believe it was Pete, in a tweet) already confirmed that right now there is a hard limit of 50 perks. Now, that may have changed, as the way it was phrased, he kind of gave the impression they may still tweak it in the future, but they definitely said you will be limited to 50 perks no matter your level.

If anything, I find 50 to be a bit much. Though I don't really have a problem with it myself.

Anything more than 50, and I think the game would end up being too easy too fast.

I'm not too sure myself to be honest. Let us assume that there will be 15 perks in each tree (This is according to 280 divided by 18 equaling roughly this.) That allows three masterys of a skill set with a few left over. While I DO agree that i don't want to be Overpowered, I think three is too little when there are 18, and four mastery, or (dare I say it) even five would be more acceptable.

I don't think so.. The typical "class" from the old system allowed the player to max 7 skills. Say there are 15 perks in a skill tree, the remainder being general perks. 50 perks allows you to completely max three skills and choose some general perks to boot. (Obviously picking all 15 would be pointless. . why would you max blade, blunt and axe)

Don't forget that some would be pointless to choose, and some would give you multiple avenues to the same result.

my onl concern is the 'multiple ranks' to a perk thing. Really makes it feel les like you have this badass stuff and more like improcing on the old one slightly.

Besides they will undoubtedly make a dlc where your lwevel cap is raised/

I agree with this, replayability and longevity is the name of the game for the ES, and making many different characters will add to that.

Considering soft level cap will be around 50, and the hard level cap between 75-80 I think 100 would be suitable. That way there still around 25-40 perks waiting for another play through.

50 is perfect.
Otherwise you'd have the same problem of the last two games where you've played for 100 hours and your character is level 68 and you've maxed out everything and are a living god.

At least this way there will be variety in what your end character will be, so that the thief character just has thievery perks and such, instead of also being a master of axery, and destruction, as well as stealth.

It limits you, but it will create a more worthwhile experience, I think.

I think you should be able change your perk rate and have 50 as normal setting. So if player want to have all perks or more they can and if they want the normal or less they can.

No, if you read you would've seen that someone posted that pete hines said there was a hard cap level at 50, meaning that right now, you cannot get more than 50 perks per playthrough.

I think we should be able to pick a perk every level. If I take the time to level my character to 75(around the mathematical limit) then let me pick 75 perks. I don't see a point of allowing us to go past 50, and not pick perks anymore. The level system shouldn't just stop in one way(perks) but allow us to continue in another(skill level/character level). I will be picking perks up to the pc limit one way or another, but console players should be able to also, atleast give them the option. People don't have to level to 75, but if they get to level 56, let them pick 56 perks!

Someone will find a way to mod and get that number higher or lower then 50.

I multiple post and videos it say that there is no lvl cap but it is hard to get past lvl 50 because your skills will most likely be maxed out AROUND lvl 50
maybe lvl 75 is a bit to much but lvl 55 or even 60 you shuld be able to get to

I haven't read the thread yet so first impression is:

It's almost too many. If someone can't make a powerful character with 50 Perks, something must be wrong. We haven't seen them all yet but in other games, they've really added a lot so thank you for the 50; I think that'll be fine. :)

50 sounds fine with me. The way the describe leveling makes me think you will level quicker early on, and at about level 10ish you'll start to level slower and slower. So at first it might feel like too many perks, but its really not.

Do people think that it's enough to be able to get all the perks in 7 skills??? I'm not sure if it's to much or to little??? Block has 7 perks so 7 X 7 =49 I think you can get more then 50 perks but just saying

Because we do not have enough Polls/ complain threads. :flamethrower:

Anyway, With some of the 280 plus perks being upgrades (Almost certain) i don't think 50 perks is enough. If there are five upgrades to two perks you want, that's ten perks and skills gone already.

I think 75, or even 100 to really push it, would be more acceptabe. But I want to hear your opnions on the subject.

I think that you should get a perk per level, as long as you can level you should be able to get a perk. Todd said it's possible to become level 75, so why suddenly stop getting perks at 50.

I think they said 50 is the softcap at which you stop gaining perks, and 75 being the hardcap.

Personally I think 50 is fine.
