My only problem with Skyrim.......

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 10:40 am

I'll start this off with what I like about the game.

Graphics - are simply AMAZING, I love looking at the sky at night and seeing the moon peek through the clouds

Look - The NPCs don't look cartoony like they did in Oblivion, everything not only looks more natural, but also more detailed

Combat - Weapons feel more real and brutal

Magic - Awesome spells and again graphics

Animations - They look more natural and realistic, not stiff, and the kill animations are a great addition

Tasks - cooking, mining, smithing, and forging, whats not love?

World - Feels more alive than ever before

Dragons - need I say more?

Dungeons - Unique and fun to explore

Werewolves - One of the coolest features in the game

Leveling - The new leveling system is MUCH better than the old one

Despite all of these awesome features, there is one thing that dramitcally disapointed me. I can't say why, but I've have always found it fun to play as a vampire. I enjoyed it a lot in Morrowind, however I really didn't like the way they were handled in Oblivion. Unlike most people, I didn't mind not feeding so I could have some extra stat boosts, but the whole time I would be asking myself what kind of a vampire grows stronger from not drinking blood? Not to mention the lack of clans. Leading up to Skyrim, I played a lot of Oblivion, and read the book "Immortal Blood" which talked about the Volkihar clan of Skyrim. They could reach through the ice of the frozen lakes they lived under without breaking it to grab their victims. And that their breath could freeze the blood in people veins. After reading this, I was very excited for Skyrim. Instead this is what I got......

Vampires that, again, grow stronger by not drinking blood

Again, no vampire clans. I can fight Volkihar vampires, but not join them, not to mention they do not do any of the stuff mentioned in the lore from Oblivion

As I said before, I never fed, so I could get better stats and more powers. But now, if I want to do quests, I have to sacrifice all that by drinking blood so I'm not immediately attacked by guards, not to mention the quest giver

I have to feed on sleeping npc's, not that I mind, I just really thought you guys would go a little further than that for Skyrim

The look of vampires are, to me, not very satisfying, I know some people on here are strongly opposed to the idea of a more....for lack of a better word.....scary looking creature of the night. Just a thought, but why not put more clans in, with their own distinct apperances? (beast, civilized, bat like, etc.)

If I want to be a vampire the way I want to, I can't interact with other npcs, more importantly other vampires, which hurts the roleplaying side of the game for people like me who enjoy playing as vampires. Without interaction, I can't buy or sell goods, like I therotically could in a vampire clan. As a vampire you are VERY limited on interaction which is again, bad for a roleplaying game. I hope you guys do something to make being a vampire more fun in Skyrim (possibly with DLC). If you don't, then I hope you guys do something better when/if the next Elder scolls comes out. But aside from that one issue, you guys made an awesome game! Thanks for all your hard work!

I am the only one that feels vampires could have been handled better?

I have to agree, loving EVERY other part of the game, not loving vampires. I did actually cure myself then use console command to put it back on, because the sneak bonus was AWESOME for a thief. But the vampire process is pretty bad. I'm looking forward to mods.

Really with the amount you're asking for you don't want an in-game feature, you want an entire DLC or even game developed around being a vampire.

Vampires in Oblivion did svck and I don't care in the slightest that they're not in Skyrim.

What's wrong with that?

Vamparism is a disease, blood is the treatment for that disease. If you don't drink blood then the disease gets worse, that's how it's always worked in TES.

But vampires drink blood as food in everything else, so the way they do it in oblivion and here is so backwards to what people are wanting out of their vampires.

i really dont think thats necessary, an entire dlc for a vampire clan and small changes to stat bonuses?

I was pretty disappointed by this as well. I was hoping there would be vampire clans and quests for vampires again like there were in Morrowind, but instead vampires seem to have been taken straight out of Oblivion. So really it feels like they didn't even take any time working on vampires - it's like they just stuck them in the game to have them in the game.

I really just want to why little to nothing was done with vampires. Especially when it comes to not following the lore.

DLC might not be the best route, but i do agree, bethesda needs to do something with this aspect of the game, they dropped the ball in oblivion and skyrim with vamps, why put the option to be one in the game, when hardly anybody enjoys being one. Im not saying take them out, just make them fun to be.

Being a vampire has a lot of downsides, so I never liked it. Werwolves only have one downside: they don't get resting bonuses. You can transform into them whenever you like, and it won't be random (unless of course during the quest 'Ill met by Moonlight'). They're awesome to play as.

In morrowind we got unique rewards for completing clan quests, that, along with vampire clans in general, made playing as a vampire more fun and worthwhile

When I said dlc, I didn't mean a completely vampire based dlc, more like vampire clans included WITH dlc.
