OOO 135 install problems

Post » Tue Dec 24, 2013 3:49 am

I have RTM and RTReadMe. I have read 500+ modding posts and cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.

Oblivion Version 1.2.0416 Steam Version

I have moved Steam to C:/Games.

Current Mods/Patches that I believe are working properly.

Unofficial Oblivion Patch

Unofficial Mods Patch

Ubofficial Shiveing Isles Patch

Darnified UI

Midas Magic Spells

Natural Environments

Loading Screens Themed Replacer

Utilities

OBMM

Wrye Bash

Boss

My game is not heavily modded.

I am 4 days and about 20 hours into trying to ge tthis to work.

Here is my problem.

Problem 1---

I DLed OOO 135. I think I have followed the read me but maybe I screwed it up.

I have this file OOO135BSA.7z in a folder on my desk top. I think this is the full OOO135, I hope it is not some patch.

The readme says to extract the archive to any folder, so I do. I get the file:

Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul with the OMM symbol to the left of the file name.

This looks just like the Darnified UI file so I think I am good. I have no files other than this one.

I then copy the file to my obmm/mods folder.

I open OMM, click "create", at the bottom I select "Data Files" (my default is "Plug Ins"). I select "Add Archive". I navigate to Oblivion/obmm/mods (where I put the file) and it is empty "No items to match your search".

What am I doing wrong?

Problem 2---

So I figure I screwed it up somehow and try 10 more times. Exact same result.

I try something else. I copy the OOO135BSA.7z (this is the zip I downloaded) to the obmm/mods folder. Open OMM, "Create", "Add Archive", navigate to obmm/mods and there is OOO135BSA.7z. I think "Happy Days are here Again!".

Select the file and click "Open".

Omm looks like it is locked up but actually it is working.

Eventually a file appears in the omod Creator window.

Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.bsa. The file path is ???. Just figured out how to unhide folders. File path sorta makes sense now.

Select "Create omod", no author name. I do not know if this matters. I make one up. No description, just continue. Omm is working....

Eventually it finishes and I have "New Mod 1.0" in the right window with a green box next to it. I close OMM, reopen and double click New Mod 1.0.

I get a decompression screen, when it completes I have New Mod 1.0 with a blue box next to it. From what I understand this means I am done.

I ran BOSS. This message is in the summary:

"No change in recognised plugin list since last run."

This may be as intended, I am not sure.

All of the other mods I have used, like 4, have had .esp files in my data folder. Does ooo 135 not have any?

I do have an unchecked Bashed Patch, 0.esp(Player File) in Data. Do I check this or is this a sign that I did the install wrong?

Where can I go to see something ooo 135 adds to confirm that it is working properly?

I played a new game for 2 minutes. I read that I should have a Torch Hotkey in my inventory. It is not there. I also read there that I should have:

Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esm (Master File)
Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp (Player File)

I have neither.

Help?

I am completely lost. I am wondering if the BSA file needs to be a BAIN install or I am supposed to use Wrye Bash on that file instead of OMM?

Thanks for looking.

Well, you have 3 options of installing it: manual install, OBMM, or Wrye Bash.

I personally use Wrye Bash.

I would recommend looking at this: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/35230/?

It's a guide for using Wrye Bash (for more specific to your concern, the BAIN - Bash Installer section).

Good luck.

The BSA file is only one file that you need. You do not need to make an omod out of it. Just open the archive with 7zip and put the BSA file into your data folder.

You also need the ESM and ESP files. There is more than one thing to download from TESAlliance. Go back to the site and download the rest of the files you need.

That's basically it.
