OOO and Quest addon mods?

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 11:20 pm

I know OOO placed many items and specific NPC's to dungeons throughout the land, and many of the quest mods probably change them. Are there specific issues with wanting to add quest mods to an OOO game, or is there a specific load order I should use?

I'm fairly new to this again as I once had OBMM and OOO but not much else years ago, but I'm starting a new game with Morroblivion, OOO, Vilja, and wanted to add some quests.

Is it doable?

Yes it is.

Use BOSS to get your load order sorted out. But above all, read potential mods readme's after the download and prior to installing the (quest) mods. Normally, any particular incompatibilities are mentioned.

Do download and run BOSS, but OOO is compatible with most quest mods and generally is loaded before quest mods. If you are considering adding a fairly popular quest mod it will probably mention any incompatibilities of note with OOO, or there will be patches for OOO and the relevant quest mod available somewhere on TESNexus. (Use Google.)

A simpler way is to read the opening post of the official OOO thread where known incompatibilities and links to patches if applicable can be found.

It's not all-encompassing. There are patches not linked in any of the references mentioned in that thread, and you need to update some of those links. At least, the first one I just tested redirected to the forum index.

Edit: However, I do think that the next time you have questions pertinent to OOO, you should post in OOO's official thread, Bigdug. That applies to all other mods with development/release threads on this forum as well.

I check these regularly so If you'd like to highlight any incompatibles, patches or dead links that I may have missed http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes4Mod:FCOM#Compatibility_Guidelines_.26_Patches I'll take measures to add/update them.
Your second point is related to here http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1337662-site-links-from-pinned-thread-they-work/ so redirecting the URLs isn't something I want to undertake until the initial problem has been resolved.
