OOO/FCOM Invisible Staffs

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:38 am

Reinstalled oblivion and installed FCOM again for another play through.

But this time i noticed something odd. Went into Rindirs staffs and bought a 'Yew' Staff' for my mage char. In my inventory it highlights as if it were equipped but i cannot see it. Close my inventory window (with it still highlighted like its equipped) go to pull out my weapon and my fists come up.

Tried a fresh install. Only went as far as installing OOO 1.33 and the 1.34b5 update.

The 'Yew Staff' is for sale and rindirs so i know OOO added the staff. Still invisible though...

All I have is OOO installed. Tried OMOD and install exe.

Help Appreciated!

EDIT: Also tried the 'Oaken Staff' same thing happens.

Do not use the EXE to install OOO 1.33 Complete. Use the complete archive, and install it with OBMM. Uninstall OOO before doing that.

Is the Yew Staff a defensive staff? You might need to have a weapon equipped in your other hand for it to show.

It's essentially a shield.

I misread the OP. I thought that the item had an invisible icon or something...

Wow... cant believe I did not try that. That made it work. Hmm I thought there was staves in FCOM that I could use without a weapon to still defend block as a Mage though. Maybe I am mistaken.

Thanks Showler :)

You can make a two handed fighting staff (in the Construction Set) and block with that, but you don't get the armor rating and it gets the block reduction associated with blocking with a weapon.

Oh one more question. This time im installing the new MMM so i copy over the ESM from the MMM37b3 archive and I have the BSA file. Do i just copy that into data directory or open with OBMM and extract it?

BSA should not be extracted (well, from the 7zip, but not the contents of the bsa from the bsa itself).

BSA needs to be renamed to suit the type of MMM install you are doing. See the MMM thread for specific details. Information may also be included with the download.

it does say to rename the BSA to match the .esp file but with FCOM im using a .esm file from Marts not the .esm. So could i just name that .bsa to FCOM_Convergence.bsa?

Rename the MMM BSA "FCOM_Convergence - MMM.bsa" and rename the Fran BSA "FCOM_Convergence - Fran.bsa"

I just found the MMM and the Upcom(?) threads and it says name it to 'FCOM_Convergence_Mart'sMonsterMod.bsa'
Or is this a mistake and i rename both fran and mmm to what you stated?

EDIT:

I had this working before besides my staff issue, but im just making sure.

When i rebuild the bash patch do i just select leveled lists?

If you would have read the last few post in fCOM thread we debated about naming ..

FCOM_Convgerence_Mart's Monster Mod.bsa - is the recommended method that has worked for everyone since we introduced the MMM.bsa , if Using FCOM.

there are other methods to get the bsa to work, tomlong will work has well.

You have to select more than just Leveled Lists.
