OOO is it good?

Post » Sat Sep 11, 2010 7:40 am

It does not really give much more info for OOO because OOO is kind of an all-in-one package, excepting the separate updates for the LITE and the FULL version, but there are some instructions for adding a script to the 1.34b5 update and a few warnings and notes about the bundled components (i.e., use the latest stand alone version, instead of the buggy one bundled with OOO.)

There is a link to the main HF mod on the Downloading Mods page, so just in case you had intended to use it: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2037.

i won't use HF so shall i simply install 1.33 then 1.34 beta then disable HF when it asks?

I would not call it "disable", but that is the basic idea. Also, you do not need the magic script effect fix either. A ton of people have that plugin installed unnecessarily. Also, the ownership removal plugin can cause some stacking issue, but it is fine, otherwise.

OBMM > Create > Add archive > OOO_133_Complete.7z > Import omod conversion data > Wait a long while (it's a huge mod)

OBMM > Create > Add archive > OOO_133_Complete.7z > Import omod conversion data > Wait a long while (it's a huge mod)

it hasn't got the .7z because i extracted it so do i need to compress it again? and where should the main folder be?

If extracted, use Add folder > OOO_133_Complete (or whatever name the folder has) instead. Main folder: OOO_133_Complete

Red means inactive with conflicts, which is normal for OOO as it has replacers etc. Yes, activate it and then install the 1.34 Beta 5 over it (make an OMOD if you prefer it).

What a nice question! I play OOO since 2007 and never ever asked myself - is OOO good?
Well, let's see...
It makes the game more real - good.
It makes me die more often - bad.
It brings flavour and colour into the game -good.
It made me buy 3 new computers to enjoy properly the game - bad.
Soo... I dunno.

i would also suggest WAC by waalx. its an early beta but it is better in my opinion than OOO in some respects. it doesnt make nearly as many gameplay changes......as far as i know all it affects is levels, new equipment and baddies

the new weapons and a few pieces are armor are much better astheltically than most other armors ive seen released. they are realistic looking and not so animeish. the robes even have equipment belts on them. the new swords are unparelled and it comes with lots of things that the FCOM version of realswords doesnt have. bows arrows everything additional swords and axes everything.

the monsters are also better in my opinion. no more anime stuff........everything actually looks dangerous and realistic. check out the white guard trolls in imperial armor at the tower and youll know what i mean. or the white lions that guard the waypoint thingies that grant you stuff from the gods.

since its an alpha or beta (forget which one) it does need to be cleaned up with tesedit, but thats only a couple of button presses. at this stage its pretty complete with the exception of some weapon balancing and im assuming he will be adding more stuff after his break. there are even some new villages with kobolds and other monsters that are awesome.

n ow that sounds like an actually well done mod that has a clear focus instead of trying to change every aspect of the game making it one of the only usable mods in the load order IMO (and this is my personal openion so do n't freak out) TES4Edit is a bit sloppy and Lazy if you ujust use a tool to clean your mods rather then take the time to do it yourself and look over it something is bound to go wrong

Actually TES4EDIT is doing it yourself ^^;. using the undelete ref, apply fliter option is only the beginning of cleaning. You have to look at the records too.

If you stop there though, I guess that's being lazy. But for some people it could also be safe if they don't know why they are doing.

i only got rid of the duplicate master edits or whatever they are. im running so many mods and WAC is pretty early in my load order that im sure alot of it is overwritten by other mods, especially the npc levels. the only changes i make to mods are usually stat changes to new weapons and armor or disabling or changing some function that i dont like. for instance in my game all weapons no matter what they are made of do the same damage, with the exception of daedric and ebony which i made a bit slower but with more power and glass and elven which i made bit faster but with with less power. even those changes are very slight. this gets rid of that stupid concept of the mighty imperial legion running around with the crappiest weapons in the game.......makes no sense at all. when i get bored again i plan on balancing all the armors as well.

the only reason i even did the cleaning was cause someone suggested it on the forums. prior to that i hadnt really noticed anything. as for cleaning out edits to be honest as long as my desired value shows up in bash patch or in a mod that runs after it i dont even bother. only saves a couple kb of data and i dont think it affects the game anyways since its being ovewritten.

All I can say is for you to try it, see what you think. It's just personal preference.
Do I use OOO? No, I don't.
But do I think that it's an absolutely phenomenal mod? Yes, I do.

There is a difference between not using a mod because it's just not for you, and not using a mod and slating it and anyone else that uses it. Keep that in mind.

Yes indeed, he uses exactly the same arguments against OOO and TES4Edit that were repeated to no end by "He That Shall Not Be Named Here". It's like a mantra!

@ Sam: I haven't read all the posts but it's just a matter of running the 1.33 installer and than copy-pasting the files from the 1.34 patch over it in your data folder. And why wouldn't you tick Oblivion.esm?

Your LO seems ok to me. And yes it needs to be ticked. Oblivion.esm must always be activated. It's the master file for all esm/esp as they all *need* it.

Yes you just extract the data folder and overwrite. As far as I can remember there is a mesh folder and the esm and esp plugins.
