OOO

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 5:29 pm

I'm new to oblivion, and pc gaming. I just wanted to know which version of OOO should I download? Also what patches should I download too. I have vanilla oblivion right now and it is really boring. Also do I need any other mods/tools to download it? Sorry if this looks noobish.

http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/intro <-- follow the next steps, tools to download are step 2, the suggested patches to download are the third step
http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/installmods/obmm-installation <-- read this after you read through "Installing Mods" (step 4)
http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/mmmooo <-- you can ignore the MMM part, but follow this to install OOO

Edit: I was thinking about writing up an OOO installation guide, and I will get on that right now. Then you can follow it instead of MMMforOOO.

GOTY does not need the latest official patch, so you are good on that end. You can skip step #2, Installing Oblivion.

I installed OOO, on my plain oblivion without GOTY installed yet. Can I install GOTY right before I leave the tutorial sewers, and not have to update my save?

I do not understand. Did you by a second copy of Oblivion? If so, you should probably uninstall Oblivion and then install the GOTY version. OOO's files have nothing to do with Oblivion, so reinstalling should not affect your OOO setup.

Edit: When you reinstall, you have to regenerate your Oblivion.ini. Delete it from your Oblivion\My Games folder.

I have the GOTY edition, which includes two discs.

1. Plain oblivion
2. GOTY add on

I have only installed Number 1, and have installed OOO already. I want to know if i Install number 2 so I have the GOTY add ons, right before I leave the tutorial sewers, will I have to use wyre bash to update my game?

The whole thing is the GOTY edition. The second disc contains the DLCs. With the exception of SI, those function the same way as any mod. You should regenerate your INI afterward, but there is not game updating to be done. I am not even sure what you mean by "update" anyway, but there are no extra steps after installing the second disc.

The GOTY add-on is pretty much just Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine and the patch. Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine don't really do anything until after you leave the sewers, so you should be able to do that.

Ok thanks, showler. I'm trying to say ummm if I install the second disc with shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine, will it effect my saved games of vanilla oblivion with OOO. hmm

DO I need to install OOO after I put the add ons that GOTY gives, or can i install OOO before it, and the monsters in shivering Isles will still be OOO effected.

It's fine to just add the DLC's without doing anything. OOO doesn't touch SI. If needed, rebuild your Oblivion.ini.

You may want to sort your load order afterward, but, other than that, there is nothing extra for you to do.
