I'v seen a lot of you guys hoping that they will do open beta before the launch and i need to dissapoint you that they wont. I found this today on theyr support site:

WILL THERE BE AN OPEN BETA?
Updated 02/05/2014 11:41 AM Published 01/22/2013 08:34 AM

We will not be holding a traditional open beta, but if you sign up to participate in the ESO beta prior to launch and are eligible per our Terms of Service, you will get an invite to a future beta event. We will be holding several very large beta sessions that include beta key giveaway promotions before the game launches. Please make sure to sign up for beta if you have not yet done so: https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en/beta

Yeah, we've known a while.

Thing is though, with the amount of invites and codes going out, what we already have is essentially open beta, just not the promo/demo most open betas are. They actually want us testing and reporting stuff

Well if you got a beta invite via email, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

This is VERY old news.

Also -not only Curse gave away something like 500k invites last time -it looks that similiar number will be given away this week, on few random sites

So why we, as a community, should even care about open beta?

I posted in the forums where you can get a free Beta key. I went there and was in the Beta five minutes later but all everyone have posted in that free Beta keys post is how they wanted a open Beta. This is so silly to me. I mean wow...just wow.

That's because they're hoping for a full demo of the game, which is not what a beta is intended to be. These are tests, and this latest one seems to be all but open, since they're sending out invites to everyone and their friends.

I remember in other games where i was the guy playing closed beta for 10 months when the weekend stress testers would hit the game. I'm sitting here at max level thinking all these poor unfortunate souls are limited to this stress test, and now I am one of those poor unfortunate souls. Open beta would be nice where we could play now until the live servers launch with full access to the game. But honestly I can understand why they wouldn't allow that and instead just do the stress tests. I just want an advantage from being able to play more lol.

it is pretty open.

Plenty of giveaways on right now, they've inviting pretty much everyone who applies for beta.

The only difference from a official open beta is having the download link handed to you before making an account.

I agree how it is practically a open beta already. What I also think makes it open is there is no NDA, just only for PTS.

Well an open beta usually is just a demo anyways, but it does help with some stuff. The last beta i took part in was FFXIV and it helped Square Enix a lot. Just too bad they were too slow to prepare for the massive amount of people that wanted to try their game out.

Log in issues lasted from open beta all the way past early access and even 2 weeks into the game being live. They even had to "Lockout" a good portion of the people that preordered for early access, and went as far as not even allowing people to que up to log into the game.

I feel this is a big mistake on ZOS's part, because i have never heard of a flawless MMO launch even with the stress test of an open beta. I guess only time will tell how this plays out. ;)
