Open letter to Bethesda regarding Skyrim

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 6:10 am

Dear Bethesda,

I've bought TES 3, TES 4 & TES 5 and some customers are old enough to have owned and maybe still own TES 1 & 2

I love the franchise and thank you for your labor of love, which it clearly is.

Regarding Skyrim, I need feedback and playing in Skyrim is causing me to be concerned about certain "elements" of gameplay.

Can you please address my questions and concerns about Skyrim through more open forum-based communication about the proposed patch & subsequent fixes?

Thank you

P.S. I'm sure many in this official forum feel the same as I do.

You only asked one question:
Can you please address my questions and concerns about Skyrim through more open forum-based communication about the proposed patch & subsequent fixes?

He only gave one answer.
I thought it was pretty straightforward.
In any case, you did 'speak for the community' in a way.

Anyways, I would just purely love if Bethesda communicated more on their own forums.

Edit: Not sure why you'd post this in General.

So wait... I don't get it? what "elements" are you getting at?

I'm sorry I just don't understand what this thread is getting at?

Are you just asking the devs to show up and answer any questions you post here in this thread or something?

Right but I said a number of things: Buying TES 3,4, & 5.......Loving the franchise.........etc.

His post was actually vague in not quoting me and responding to that statement of mine. I, on the other hand, was clearly very particular.

Peace

Um, not to be critical, but I highly doubt they are going to come to this thread to answer your questions.

Especially since you're keeping them secret. Why not just ask them?

You weren't exactly forthcoming when you mention "elements", you need to be specific. What direction did they take? I personally think they fixed what was totally lacking in Oblivion. Still, no ES game has matched Daggerfall, IMO since its release in scope and role playing.

It's doubtful Beth officials will address issues directly in their public forums with player, though that would be nice,a t least I've never experienced that, so I may be wrong. Bioware devs do openly engage the players in their forums very often and listen and reply to criticisms and praise. They even implement certain things with DLC.

Yes, sir, It does.

It starts with "Can" and ends with a question mark.

Please re-read my O.P.

That's fine. I'm new here and I don't know how Bethesda works out issues with their customer base.

That's why I posted an OPEN letter man.

Maybe if you asked a question they would answer it, but do you really expect them to send someone to just sit in this thread and wait for you to think of a question? Come on. Threads like this are the reason they don't answer more questions.

The developers don't need to be spending time responding to forum criticism, it would go nowhere. It's very rare that professional game developers interact on their own forums. Although I think the OP had good intentions, it would be like someone praying to the Nine to come down and have a chat with them.

Actually thatd probably be more likely of the two to have happen.

Back by popular willful ignorance of umpteen pages of how this game misses the mark:

My concerns about gameplay:

1. Leveling is too fast and not truly synchronized with difficulty slider
2. Overpowered companions you can't issue basic commands to (Ex. The only current companion option is "Charge the enemy every time")
3. Spells: Some overpowered, some useless
4. Difficulty scale not truly reflective of "in-game" difficulty. When companions are used, difficulty becomes more unbalanced in players favor
5. Broken quests

Fair enough? Yes it is.

Nuff said.

Took you 24 posts to actually post some concerns that you have for the game, when you could've just posted them in your OP. :glare:
