Operative's Cortex Bomb

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 3:46 pm

Those are the average everyday mines an Engineer gets.

But yes, he can place them under incapped players. It's not a special ability or anything, he can do that from level 0.

I'm confused about when you would do this though. Are you supposed to use it on a incapped enemy so if a medic comes around it will explode. Or do you put it under an incapped friend so that if an operative comes to interrogate or another enemy comes to melee kill it will explode. Cause if I was incapped and saw an enemy put a mine under me I would just say to respawn and not wait for a medic.

Oh, I see. I wonder if you can actually see the mine.

Operatives can spot &mark mines like they can spot & mark enemy Operatives.

I think you can only place them on the floor, and since technically the incapped player is higher than the floor, it would go through him.

Well, a dev said you can place them under an incapacitated player, thus making him a trap for medics.

Well a medic doesn't have to get really close to a incapped person since he just chucks the life saving fluid around like a Frisbee so I don't know how much damage a mine trap like that would do to him

The medic does have to get close. The range at which you can throw a syringe, hand out ammo, buff weapons/armour is only about an arm's length.

Death streaks are one of the few things Call of Duty did that no one complains at.

I can't speak for BlOps, but I'm pretty sure Painkiller was the thing I heard complained about most when I played MW2. Just sayin'.

Yea but it is still a lot farther than most games revives, plus since gernades are set to be knock downs and not incaps then I don't see the point unless you are sitting there waiting for a medic to revive a guy you trapped. And if thats the case it would be better for the guy to chose to respawn that let a medic help him.

Wail it says eliminated does that mean one hit kill or will it just do a lot of damage.

No weapon by default can instantly incapacitate someone, but it will knock the Medic down and possibly kill the incapped guy. That would make for an excellent ambush.

Wait wait wait, implanted in who? You or a downed enemy, because implanting it in a baddie and waiting til a medic comes running would be such a dike move. :P

I like the one in World at War better. If you had Martyrdom as a perk, you'd drop a grenade after every single death.

Death streaks are one of the few things Call of Duty did that no one complains at.

Painkiller just painkiller.

Anyhoo this is more for annoying those annoying teabaggers. I have a medic and probably won't need this too often.

Cortex Bomb is planted inside YOUR CHARACTER.

So when YOU get incapped, and an enemy comes close, YOU can make YOURSELF explode. If they shoot you while you're down, instead of going for melee/interrogation, then it's not very useful. Good counter to enemy Operatives using you for free radar though.

Means you lose the chance to be revived, but does a big chunk of damage to your enemy (or enemies, if you're lucky).

Cortex Bomb sounds pretty awesome. Enemies that try to beat you to death are in for a rude awakening. Even better, if enemy Operatives take the 'Interrogate' task (Operative interrogates a downed enemy to give their team 10 seconds of radar), you can blow them up. 'Twould be most excellent.
