i dont really care what class i play at the moment.
il just play the game and swap to whatever class is needed.. and then ill decide what class i like best.
im probably going to choose the rounded/general (whatever their called) perks

Hmm, this one is a tricky one.

I was going to say Engineer, since Operatives generally want to be light and agile, and are thus more fragile and less straight combat oriented, meaning Engineers are more likely to be good at both support and combat. However, I wanted to look at what each class could do more closely, and it looks like friendly fire is always on, so spy checking won't be like it is in TF2. Considering Operatives can't cloak, this makes sneaking behind enemy lines to blend in an intriguing experience.

Like most people, I'll play multiple classes, at least at first. But, based on what I've read, the Operative sounds simply epic. Lots of challenge and gameplay variety, it sounds like a fun class to play, with lots of options. As to who is better...well, I haven't played the game, so I can't say for sure, obviously. But it sounds like Operatives try and do their own thing and hang back or blend in, while Engineers have to repair objectives or build turrets, which could make them a target. It all depends on the playstyles of the Operative and Engineer in question, but an assassination oriented Operative could easily take out a stationary Engineer who is repairing or building something.

On the flipside, though, as I said, Engineers are more likely to be tougher, since they don't always need to be as agile, so they could get a weapon and health advantage over the Operative. It all depends on the setting I guess. If the Engineer is on the defensive side, trying to guard something, Operative wins; if the Engineer is the one attacking an objective he might have an advantage, although here he would also be more vulnerable to an Operative sneaking in behind him, since he's moving and can't keep track as well. Basically, if both players were at high skill I think the Operative would win, but at average skills the Engineer would have an advantage, although still not as much as the skilled Operative had.

I could be totally off-base, and I'm not all that confident with my choice yet, but I've voted Operative for now. It definitely seems like that would be more fun to play. As I said, there looks like there will be plenty of variety. The other classes will all be fun as well, though.

Note: You asked who would win, and that's what I'm not completely confident about. Who would be more fun for me, or who I would pick is definitely Operative, though, if I had to choose one. :)

Heavy Operatives would work pretty damn well. Think of it. A Heavy is hacking into a Command Post. He takes out the minigun and slaughters people who try to stop him. Heavy Operatives would have a harder time getting through enemy lines but in theory could work almost as well as a Light Operative. A Light would have a harder time defending himself after he starts a hack. Lights would be better in more situations, but that doesn't mean a Heavy wouldn't work.

no he did not, he asked wich one was better, wich is a different thing.
but all are necessary, operative to get intel and hack, engineer to repair, give dmg buffs and to put up turrets to give cover/suppresive fire

I don't think that there is something like a best class.
Different classes serve different purposes.

Engineer: Objective, securing areas with turrets.
Medic: Support and buffing
Soldier: Dealing and taking damage
Operative: Gathering intel, sneaks behind enemy lines and probably also some objective based play.

The best class is the class which is at a certain point in a game needed by the team. That way you'll have an objective to complete without 7 others trying to do the exact same thing.
Ofcourse you need teamplay for most objectivse but I'm just trying to point out that you'll have more work when you are an engi and you have to blow the main objective then when you are an operative.
It all comes down to what the objectives are and which map you're playing, considering that map design will affect a huge part of the game.

Operative, because it makes it more like a action movie. Where your an agent doing cool tasks outside all the main mayhem :P

Engineer should be fun too though cause it seems similar to TF2 engineer :D

you wont be playing one class for the whole game. you will be switching classes constantly through control points in order to get the most xp

besides, there are already enough operatives

It isnt a matter of what you think is better its a matter of what fits your play style more. If you like to be with your team helping push forward backing everyone up with dmg buffs and throwinf down turrets for support disarming explosives ect engineer is the way to go. If you like runningof on your own being a lone wolf trying to sneak into enemy territory to hack things ect then play as an operative. Personally I think engineers would be more helpfull to the team considering they cna buff and do alot more for the team but that doesnt mean Operatvies arent important or dont play there role in the battle by any means.

I don't think any of them are "better". But I think I will enjoy playing operative more. I like being a sneaky person.

Several times actually.

Indeed. Everyone can't switch all the time then you will have 2 many.

if you like supporting people and being in the midst of combat, i suggest a heavy/medium engineer. If you wanna sneak behind enemy lines (not a ninja) and receive intel, not really fighting, then play a light operative. Personally, i like the light soldier option, but of the two, i would rather choose Heavy engineer, i prefer to be in the thick of it

Operatives would be quick and sneaky, but most likely won't have the fire power to back it up. The engineer would probaly have more fire power they are always on the frontlines in the mist of battle. So i would choose engineer.

firepower goes by bosytype, not class. a light operative and light engineer will have access to the same guns. a heavy operative and heavy engineer have the same guns too
