Operative hate?

Post » Wed Aug 11, 2010 1:05 pm

It seems as though the operative class isn't getting much love. Whats with that? Sure there will be the n00bs who think they are total ninjas, but what about the ones who actually can use the class with skill? All im saying is give people a chance.:)

I'm sure there will be Operatives I hate, but the class itself? LOVE.

I'm going to be one, I have to say that (except when I'm a Medic)

Actually the fact that operatives aren't getting enough love is debatable. Some Polls showed that most people want to play Operative but others have showed the engineer being the most picked

I love the class itself, and anyone who can play it well will get immense respect from me. Probably because I would want to play one but would be terrible at it....

Well its mostly because outside of sneaking around and crippling/confusing the enemy they have no team buffs or anything... but that's not so bad.

You either get 2 people:
1. The light operative with a light rifle that will be sniping and/or terrible at the game... which will be a pain for his team to deal with.
2. Great operative that does his job which will infuriate the opposing team... which will be a pain for the opposite team to deal with.

Good or bad, there will be around 7 people that suffer because of this class.

i for one like them for their tactical advantage they provide. that's not to say that none of the other classes do the same.
it's just that the Op hold a special place in my hart.

I dont know how hard operative is to play considering I never played TF2 or any game that allows you to disguise or play stealthy. The closest thing I've gotten to that is when I played a few matches in MW2 with cold blooded and without killing anyone but just going for objectives. If playing operative is really as hard as people make it seem, then I'm going to learn to play operative because I enjoy a challenge in multiplayer games and playing stealthy..

I am guessing you mean the class, why you say that?I mean i haven't seen any really negative comments about it and from what i see from the balancing of classes all is good there too.

Well i like them,i am thinking to start as Operative.

I haven't seen much Op hate and I've seen a lot of Op love (ewwww), so I don't know where you're coming from on this. Most people expect Ops to be overused at least early on.

The only reason they arent getting any love from me is because it already seems like the devs gave them alot of love. They have all these crazy abilities they seem like the Macgyver able to handle any situation where other classes seem more role specifiedand suited for doing certain things they can inflitrate cause chaos, do dmg, buff team with maps sweeps of enemy locations, pretty much everything kind like a mix of all classes.

There's a general dislike because far more people are choosing it than we thought. Denham's Law: If it's the norm, the community goes against it.

A good Operative:
- Will distract the opposing team even if it's only for a second allowing the team to utilize that second to their advance.
- Will mark mines and interrogate incapitated (sp) enemies showing you where the opposing forces are located.
- Will turn that turret that your heavy-body type cannot get past against the team.
- Can take out an enemy elsewhere, disguise himself as that person, then pretend to be with the other team and take out that Medic that is keeping everyone alive.
- Can give you the extra time to save a command post by upgrading it with a firewall.

- Will EMP enemy explosive charges/whatever else can be EMP'ed to slow or halt their advance.
- Will identify enemy Operatives so that his or her team can wail on the sneaky bugger.

I love the concept of them but this class WILL be the class all those ballistic knifers and commando users will use and as such I think the actually good Operatives will become a very rare breed indeed and probably looked down upon by the community in general because of these individuals that will ruin the class at least until they get bored of doing so and go back to whatever else they do with themselves.

As such this gets a Hate for me, I think the Operative could really have a bunch of cool abilities focused on keeping him with the team per say instead of in that lone wolf role(some will argue he is fighting for the team but he will be alone and his performance is based only on himself, this constitutes a lone wolf for me).

That's what I am saying they pretty much have an answer to deal with every other class/ deal with almost any situation where the other classes dont and rely more on eachother

Flank behind enemy lines, take out out a lone enemy attempting to flank my team, interrogate him to get my team radar, advance, do a fairly well timed, quick hit 'n' run attack, run for it, get healed, rinse and repeat.

Being a basic operative doen't sound all that hard, and from there, I can work out how to use the other abilities, and build up my repetoire.

Simple.

Why is there no, "No love for Soldiers?" thread. Seeing as how they will most likely be the least played at release.
Also, I don't love or hate operatives, so I couldn't vote.

A single operative, a very good one, would be able to cause such confusion and bother that an attack or a defence could go all wrong. I can see people becoming very skilled operatives and truely be a ninja warping in and out of a fight before anyone notices theyre there. I'd hate to have to deal with them, but I do love them as a unique class that can be very powerful if used correctly.

The thing that bother me about the Operative class is there are no counter measures really to spot them they have perfect disguises. If they are going to do that then they should have them not show up on the mini-map or cross-hairs turn red when pointed at one or something like that to indicate to you that they arent a friendly. I do not like the concept that you will have to rely friendly Operatives to spot out enemies withing you midst. There should be some way for you as an individual to be able to spot them out besides watching there movements because lets be honest in the heat of battle who is really going to sit and watch to make sure every friendly is firing at the other team when bullets and being shot at you or watch to make sure that some heavy isnt climbing things like a light.
