operative kinda left behind

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 8:24 am

I think the operative is a not unused but mission low player along with the medic(but your a medic geting good xp from healing )
but there like 3 maps in the game that has one and he cant to anything to anyone else mission

Bomb= solider (engineer to disarm)

fix mission= engineer (not one to break)

escort(human) medic to heal/revive (anyone to kill)

escort (machine) engineer (anyone to kill)

hack operative to hack (enigneer to disarm)

blockades engineers to build (soldiers to blow up)

.he engineer is way over use how about having an operative to disarms hack KINDA LIKE LIFE have hacker hack other hackers EX. F.B.I ,D.O.D ,C.I.A

Ops are left out a lot. How about letting hackers prolong the soldiers bomb fuse? Or hacking other hack boxes? Engis have enough uses already.

I think it's good that they aren't that prominent. Not too many ninjas wreaking havoc, like the [censored] spy from TF2. :flamethrower: Spy check!

I agree, I would like to see another objective type that op's are able to complete. Though it is still fun just messing with and picking at the other team in general.

I wouldnt mind seeing operatives given the ability to disarm HE charges and remove hackboxes, and some kind of team buff wouldnt hurt them either (something like a supply buff to an ally would be great I think).

That way, it breaks down into...

Soldiers
-Plant HE charges
-Resupply/increase ally ammunition

Medics
-Heal/Buff Allies
-Revive Allies
-Keep the hostage moving during escorts

Engineers
-Buff Ally weapon damage/armor
-Build MG Nests
-Repair the Bot
-Construct Barricades
-Upgrade Command Posts
-Repair Objectives

Operatives
-Buff Ally supply (either regeneration rate or max limit & restore 1 supply pip)
-Disarm HE charges
-Remove hackboxes
-Firewall command posts

Medics gives out supply pips

Operatives is the best class so far for me in my opinion we have it makes or break a team;
Sticky Bomb- Make them run around in circle and BOOM
Caltrap Bomb- Block a road off they step on it they starts taking damage
Comms Hack- Shows everybody on your radar EVERYBODY
Disguise- Behind enemy lines
Hack Turrets- My enemy Turrets is mine
Control Turrets- Make any Turrets golden when you control it
EMP grenade- Stop any machine for 10 secs like Hackbox, turrets, HE charge, bots, Sticky bomb for 10 sec
Homing Beacon- Locks player on my screen
Firewall- Use on your command post so you have chance to defend it

We Good Operatives are golden

Operatives can be useful for much more than just hacking objectives. They can help by:

Frequently using comms hack to update the team.
Sowing caltrops on heavily-used routes
Sneaky use of sticky-bombs
Re-taking CPs in disguise.
Stealing turrets - awesome!
Ambushing lone enemies in strong defence positions, or who are trying to plant/capture/hack something, while disguised.
Ambushing enemies racing from their DP, back towards objectives or ongoing firefights, agian whilst disguised.

An Op in enemy territory can cause all kinds of chaos, by distracting the enemy from the objective or picking holes in their defence. Add light-body and good SMART skills and they can make a real pest of themselves. When I get my soldier to lvl 20, I'll be making a sneaky bastard next!

As for the soldier being able to plant charges..but NOT disarm them.....now that's just annoying, but that's another debate.

There is a huge difference between being able to hit a curve ball and being able to throw one. I don't see any problem with requiring an Engineer to disarm an HE charge. Just because you can ride a bike doesn't mean you can fix one if it breaks.

As for Operatives not having enough uses, well, unlock the EMP grenade and let me know what you think then. It is obvious that most of the players crying about Operative do not have a level 20 one.

Removing Hackboxes would be nice.

At the same time, they do actually have a few Command Post abilities, signifying their ability to get past the main objective, sneakily take out a few players, capture the command posts (which is important) and the like, which I like to do quite a lot because it means I can use all the base abilities to get the job done and support the main objective in that sense.

Also, I find that - while it's true any class can pick up the delivery packages - Operatives are usually best. On Container City you can get in to the box MUCH easier with a disguise, getting out is just a matter of distraction after that.

I've had operatives get more XP in matches more times than not. I think they're fine.

And if operatives were given that as a basic buffing ability, I'd say remove the transfer supplies skill from medics and replace it with a grenade that heals all allies in the explosion radius. We have the lazarus grenade for rezzing, but nothing for multiple target healing.

Ops may not get a lot of major objectives, but they have the coolest support options IMO.

Leave operatives alone dont take anything out we are perfect. I get 5000K+ for matches by myself lonewolf behind enemy lines with all my tools no healing, no buffs, no objective XP all I get it solo hack solo CP, solo comms hack. OPs is godmode.

I honestly believe its how you play the operative.

As a base class, yeah they lack in use.
If you really want to specialise with the class. There are a lot of things you can do to help the team, without going for the main objective.
I also believe their use in this game suits the term 'operative'.

Think about it.
Any 'Ops' team in the military normally carry out smaller, harder, objectives on their own.

I have been playing as an Operative more lately and think they are just fine as they are. I think that you don't need a bunch of Ops running around nor are there meant to be. They are the stealthy, behind the lines types that pick off targets of interest and make the enemy look over their shoulder or watch their back lines. Leave Ops alone. Just learn how to play them as it.

I think that the operatives' disguise ability shouldn't disappear after starting to take command posts. This is mainly because friendly player use command posts.

A more precise description would be that a disguised operative goes to hack a command post. While hacking, the operative will still look like an enemy player, but will still do the normal typing animation.

non-objective actions very helpful. Why should they be the one to hold action button on the objective all the time? They're not left out, they're helping the team. Disguise and comms hack should be 12% faster though.

LOL... only 5k? I get 1'000 XP every minute of gameplay with Operative averaging 10-20k per match, I'm maxing out 10 characters before they patch the operative to make him more useless.
