Opinion about the map

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 1:46 pm

From the videos I saw, it seems sprinting is much faster than it is in Skyrim, though. Also, how can the person who leaked the footage sprint nonstop from corner to corner? Cheats weren't mentioned, something is VERY fishy here. Plus, if we pretend for a moment that sprinting in Skyrim and in Fallout 4 are exactly the same speed and if cheats are not used to time the run, we also have to take into account the amount of stamina you get in Skyrim and the amount of ap you get in F4 which would need to allow the character to sprint the same amount of time from corner to corner, otherwise this comparison is garbage.

There's a lot of water, so that raises some questions of underwater exploration.
Maybe the Aquaboy perk will be more useful than I thought.
Or maybe even power armor can be a tool for underwater exploration?

Thoughts?

There has been no such thing, and, in fact, most comparison use that hilarious incorrect Fo3 = 50 square miles number.

Using up a perk/rank to include underwater breathing seems like it should be a hint at some kind of exporlation. Possibly us getting access to a vault or something?

I didn't say he was sprinting nonstop since the stamima doesnt let you do that and he's not using cheats lol. I know what i have seen and im not wining a medal for sharing this with all of you, just for getting your opinion. i said im not gonna show leaked info nor public the source here, but if you have any doubt you can send me a private message.

Perhaps you know more than BGS Devs like Todd Howard but I doubt it.

When asked about the size of Skyrim.
“The map is the same size as Oblivion but more dense,” Hines told us, hinting at more areas, quests and NPCs for the upcoming open-world RPG. That still represents a map “three to four times larger than Fallout 3,” according to Hines.

Oblivion's map was 14-16 square miles, 22 if you count all the non playable space outside the boundaries. Todd was telling the truth there.

Pete was most likely referring to map density rather then actual size. Fallout 3 had something like 150 locations, Skyrim has 400+.

Come from seeing the video once more time. Can confirm that the guy is going as fast as he can, obviously he can't sprint a lot cause of stamina goes down fast and has to recover.

The sensation in this second time is diferent, despite its just 12 min to run all the map, i have the feeling that map is enough big and will be nice to all of us. Its just a lane the way he does. Im thinking now that maybe is a bit bigger than skyrim's map since here we have no mountains to go around. PM me if you want comprobe.

I've seen the leaks, and I've got to say that it looks like a disappointing map. It's small (walking from Vault 111 to Concord looks to take up a very significant portion of the top left corner), and Boston takes up most of the map. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, as Bethesda are evidently going for a vibe where most of the game takes place in inner Boston rather than the "wasteland" (as in Fallout 3), but it doesn't seem like there will be much actual wasteland to explore. As I said, it just looks weirdly small. Perhaps it's no smaller than Fallout 3's map, but I was expecting greater things.

Of course, I've never actually played the game so

I highly suspect those that are not interested in a rpg story (yes, these people exist) will find it small.

I guess they figured because we have no horses things didn't need to be as spread out. I personally would like the map double the size but I guess the game wouldn't be coming out for another year or 2 if that was the case.

As others mentioned I wouldn't mind seeing more wasteland and not just city for the majority of the map.

There is a ton of water it looks like .. 1/4 or 1/5. There is bound to be underwater vaults, cities like BioShock, and other things. They wouldn't have had that amount of water otherwise.

Do you really want to spend two hours running across a map that's mostly empty wasteland? I think the density of locations is more important than the size of the map. It's like going from the east coast of the US to the west coast. Everything in the middle is just hundreds of miles of flat, featureless land with no trees and no topography of any kind. It would be more fun if the middle part of country was cut out and the travel time between coasts was reduced to about twelve minutes.

If it's as big and dense as Skyrim, sounds good to me.

The Wastes are not wilderness. There is nothing known as safety here. There is no such thing as "camp". Families speak stories of peace to their children over firelight, where you tell horror.

Every moment here could be your last.

And that makes every moment that more needed.

I want to be a part of those moments. For good or bad...I want to be a part.

Yeah just saw it,it's not that bad its actually good chunk of a map.

I do wish it was little bit bigger at least half more or would prefer twice more but still, I'm content with the size of it.

Map seems fine. FO series isn't TES, this isn't supposed to be a hiking simulator. People keep forgetting this isn't their TES total conversion mod.

I don't think anyone is saying that. I doubt anyone minds the map size. I think people like me would like a bigger world with more to do so instead of 400 hours it takes 800. This isn't realistic but we love Fallout games so some people say the bigger and more dense the better.

There will be dlcs that add landmasses so it should be perfect!

I can't wait to see all the additions mods will make to the overall playing size/time of the game. When in doubt, mod it out.

From what I've read, it's not the size of the Wastes; it's the motion of the Glowing Ocean.

i find it interesting that he just joined the forum on sunday, thats the same day the leak came out on the guy who didn't speak english and he's giving some info that highly questionable and suspicious so i'm not believing this info, either this is phony or what he viewed was somehow not accurate.

It's not that I don't trust the op's information now, it's that I don't trust the comparisons being made to Skyrim's map and how you can also sprint from corner to corner in 12 minutes. Different sprint speeds, different stamina/ap levels and efficiency.

And if you were a reviewer who got a copy of the game and were already leaking game info onto the internet, would you honestly go to the official forums to do the same? I doubt it. If I had the game, I'd want to play as much as I can haha.
