I saw also leaked information on reddit, were a player atached al the mapzones, comes out it was 3 times bigger then FO3.

True, but officialy, we still don't know the scale :/
And apparantly a lot of buildings are now open and we don't know what to explore underground and underwater
I expect the map to be a good size. I dont think anyone will complain about it when they feel it out for themselves. Plus the potential for underwater type stuff is really cool. I saw the octopus type thing on the concept art, hope there is some giant Kraken like beast out there. That would be the best thing ever.
In youtube they do it in 30minutes... more than double...
Don't know, it seems kind of disappointing. They had better no have decorative houses in which you can't enter like FO3 dc and some wilderness POIs.
And no Bethesda's games strong point is not the story that will make us not care about the size of the world as some have said.
He doesn't sprint all the time, he does when he can.
I think that's an exaggeration.
Looking on Google maps, I reckon 20-25%.

Salem is on the map! At least the location where Salem is in RL.
And the Soldier System Center because the Lake Cochituate is on the map.

No. More like 30 %.
The map was liked and there is indeed 30 % of water.
For those of you still wondering, yes this is legit. Dude runs from the top left to the bottom right corners of the landmass in just over 11 minutes. And he's being a dummy with his sprinting. Instead of letting the whole bar regen and using it all up, he regens a bit, sprints, and repeats. Because it takes a while before the AP starts regening again, this is horribly inefficient. With proper sprinting, he could have done this considerably faster.
At the end, looking at the revealed areas he went through in relation to the map, it does make the area look rather small. Of course, this doesn't take into account the verticality, which no one yet knows just how significant it is.
Just watched the video as well, and it is definitely legit. As the poster above stated, the sprinting was a bit all over the place, but to be honest, I don't think he could have made it in much less time.
In spite of the above revelation, the map still looks huge. The area covered represents a very small part of the overall map because it is essential a straight line with very few obstacles in the way. And what the player does is most certainly NOT representative of normal gameplay. Add to this the fact of Todd Howard and several others at BGS having played for over 400 hours each without seeing everything in the gameworld, and I honestly don't think we have anything to worry about.
If you zoomed Skyrim's map all the way out, and made the icons much smaller, I guess it too would look rather small. That might be what we're seeing here.
Another thing to note is that whereas the top left corner of the landmass is snug with the map limits, the bottom right corner isn't; there is a considerable amount of water between the coast and the eastern map limit, which means his route was a bit shorter than the map's diagonal.
There are too many variables involved here to make an accurate judgement of relative sizes, including amount of stamina vs AP, regen rates, regen delay in FO4, etc. etc..
The only way to settle this is for detailed anolysis:
Cell measurement is a slight red herring because size is perceived by the ability to navigate the world.
Artists will use tricks of scale to make a space 'look' bigger.
And then there is content density, which is a whole other ball game.
Can we settle on:
'it's big' ?
the ocean is part of the game now so stop been a cry baby
u realize that make the map almost the same size of Skyrim, only problem with Skyrim u have a huge mountain in the middle.
Most of us will be staring at the clock for the next five-and-a-half days lol!
I would be much more interested in how long it took to thoroughly search through MIT than how long it takes to sprint across the map. That would provide me a much clearer picture of how big the game is.
Exactly, We dont know how many dungeons there are/how big they are. Hell a simple entrance can lead to a 6 hour dungeon dive. We dont see that inside a 12 min sprint over the overworld.
I could make a huge map that is boring much more easily then a small dense, interesting map/level
