Opinion on k/d?

Would you rather have stats be tracked online, or not?
Why?

No, and because there's really no need for it. Especially not for a K/D ratio, considering that Brink is an objective based game. I have seen nothing good come of these stats, and lots of things bad come of them. It is time to break the cycle.

I only want to see my own stats for that match and only at the end of that match. I don't want to be able to as my overall K/D because then I'll compete with myself.

I voted other, read down for more info.

I would like Xp tracking and then XP tracking to be split into Objective XP and Misc XP (Misc includes giving ammo and any other things that don't appear on the objective wheel, healing, killing, etc)

This way you could see how good the player is at tackling big objectives. Or likewise how good they are at gaining misc exp (which chances are most of it will be through heals etc seeing how little you get from killing as we have been lead to believe)

I say no to anything that ranks people, one reason leader boards are a no-no, K/D Ratio a no-no. I don't want people to avoid helping teammates because they want to keep their precious K/D Ratio intact, to those people I say we don't need you anyway.

So no, no K/D Ratio.

This pic sums up my thoughts.

I think there should be online stat tracking almost everything other than KD. KD, when you think about, really hurts you than helps. If you see it, most likely you feel compelled to raise it. And if your under pressure to do better , in my experience, you become paranoid and helbent on getting it higher, and that is not a fun experience at all.
My choice is other

Edit: Ranking is also out, dont need people to try and hack just to boast a high leaderboard ranking, but things like gun use, bullets fired,xp and all those interesting little stats would be nice for me to see, with the ability for others to view your stats optional. BEsides, who needs rankings? Just promotes cheap weapon/item usage, hacking camping, cheating, unfair tactic etc. and turns everyone into a cutthroat.

Average Expierence-per-Death ratio might be nice.

As an out-of-the-closet, partly redeemed stats [censored] I beg: please, please, please can we have no stats.

Certain servers can have them if they want to, but not overall game / all-player stats, for the reasons stated above. Although the poll speaks for itself.

Sincere thanks in advance.

Kill/death ratios have only one valid purpose -- in deathmatch gametypes where there are no objectives to secure aside from blasting your opponent.

It's simply not worth placing any importance on kill/death ratios in any game where there's at least one objective to secure. Sure, some members of a team might want to lay down suppressive fire to lock the opposing team out of securing an objective, but we should think of it as incidental. Make the objective the primary focus of your play and if you must spend shots, spend them to assure your success of securing said objective.

Secure objectives first and fire your weapon defensively, and only if you must. That's my opinion on how objective-based games should be played.

I'd only want it if you weren't able to display it to others and only see it for yourself. Half the reason people put so much effort into their K/D is to be able to show it to ppl and rub it in their face about How "good" they are. if they are unable to do that then what's the point?

I guess my vote could go to "don't want", but I wouldn't mind being able to see how I'm doing in all aspects of gameplay. But in the end it don't matter either way to me. I just want to play and have fun.

Not needed for an objective based game, there are other stats that my be useful. But as someone who couldn't give a rats ass about any stats, I couldn't care less.

The only competition I think Brink players should concern themselves with is the match they're playing. I'd like absolutely no stat-tracking or leaderboards for this game -- it would only encourage the elitism and antagonism poisoning the communities of other games.

I don't care. I never look at stats (unless it's an RPG or something in which your stats could mean the difference between life and death, lol).

I don't mind if people can look at their own stats----just don't talk to me about them, don't brag to me about it or put me down because I don't have your level of high stats, etc.

There was a guy in my school who bragged about having an 8.3 KD in MW2 and u found out he did that by having an aimbot, and did it just so he could show it off... So no, no KD, hell people even modded their accuracy % in MW2 stats bring out the worst in people for some reason

Overall stats always have and always will be a bad idea. End of game stats? ok thats not so bad. I want to have fun and like a lot of people I end up worrying more about K/D. Also a personal stat like that would seem pretty out of place in a game that relies heavily on team work.

Why have a K/D on a game that is only objective based? K/D just provides a reason to sit in a corner and rack up kills. A W/L I wouldn't mind since you have to complete the objectives and work together to win and if you don't you lose.

Closed for a leisurely clean up.

edit:

Ok, I have removed over half the posts in this thread and it's time to have a little chat. We don't allow anyone to put other members or groups of members down for that their preferences are. That means that whether or not you like leader boards or other sorts of tracking of scores and such it is ok to say it here without fear of being flamed. Some tend to like such because it's a great way to track your own progress and push yourself to get better. It's also fun for some who play with their friends and enjoy that sort of competition among themselves. There are others who don't like such things because it seems like bragging to them or they are just more private people and don't enjoy that sort of competition but rather enjoy the in game stuff only. Either of these is fine.

But don't be bashing on anyone because of what they like or don't like and don't talk ugly about one group or the other as a whole. We just don't allow such flametastic times here because we like discussing games in peace. ;)

I've got uses for stat tracking and I get why other people don't want it, but I think you'll find that with or without you will still see many of the negative behaviors associated with stats.

Don't need KDR as much as I could use some of the other stats though.

I like what the developers philosophy on kills are it's a good twist. This's 1 of the major reasons I'm looking forward to playing Brink where kdr is not the major focus. I have enough run shoot run shoot games.

I personally would not like a K/D ratio since I don't care to look at mine or others very often. Besides, I'm that guy who can careless on that type of stuff along with leadership boards.
