Opinion of the Onlive service

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 4:56 am

Finally got around to trying out the service about two weeks ago. While there is a severe lack of titles, and the actual graphical fidelity of games can either be hit or miss, I still think that this service shows a lot of potential. It's kind of hard for me to explain just how cool it was the first time I booted up the service and got the chance to play an actually good looking game on my much lackluster computer and it's integrated graphics. So, for those of you who have tried the service out, what are your opinions? What additions do you think they should roll out in the coming months/ years? I would personally like the ability to set the fidelity of the graphics myself. Not just have most things pre-set for me. Though I know this probably has something to do with having the speeds stay manageable on lower internet speeds.

Ya...

Just don't ask for delivery or they just don't include anything,. Like when you file your C-5 and C-7 they just don't accept attachments.

I like it but the 2 things that prevent me from getting the micro console is it's not wifi yet and the lack of titles. The wifi on computers is still a beta but this technology has great potential. Just one question, does it have online multiplayer?

It will never be at a point where it has acceptable input delay.

It does have online multiplayer, but only for so many games. I mostly just play Unreal Tournament 3 multiplayer. So yeah, its there, but not in a real way.

Have you ever tried it?

I was pleasantly surprised.

HTC bought Onlive, I wonder if the method of business would be affected.

Yes, I tried the beta. But it's simply impossible. Even a monitor with over 8ms input delay svcks for gaming. Good luck getting a home connection with ping anywhere near that low to ANY server.

I didn't notice any delay. Then again, as I can't tell any difference in the smoothness of a game between 60fps and 120fps, I doubt I could tell any difference between 2 and 8 millisecond input delay

I am fine with a 30 - 40ms response time, which is probably why I am happy with OnLive
